You would have to make a mask, then save the mask. Go to the background clip you want (such as the sky), and choose the mask you saved.

I'd suggest masking using Ps or AE than Sony.

Not photoshop. It's 10x harder. Have you ever used it?

its probably just as hard as AE O.o truthfully I find masking in photoshop slightly easier than screwing around with vegas...

I ddnt suggest Ps cos its easier, i suggested both cos when zooming in you wont lose as much quality as vegas, therefore getting better masking results.

Getting quality is always hardwork.

Lol, then we have tottaly different viewpoints. Well, my photoshop doesn't have the regular masking tool, just erasing, so thats whhat I meant by it.

@SenTrix Why would they need to zoom?

@Vax
Well, me personally...i would zoom in so i can see the lines better, and i can have a nice masking done...as u said we totally have different view points.

@Jaddz
Masking in AE would prbs be easier than Ps imho :D but that really depends on the person using it.

oh if you mean zooming like that, well you can do that in Vegas... you just place the mouse over the masking area and scroll up O.o

the biggest problem people have with masking in Vegas is the fact that they don't have the project settings set to the proper frame rate and then Vegas creates a lot of blending on added in frames, either that or they are trying to mask with already blended footage...

I hear Adobe products get angsty about frame rates but Vegas automatically adjusts the frame rate of the source to the project's frame rate, so when you have a source with a lower frame rate than the project Vegas will automatically add in frames and create a lot of blending.

I can't tell if you're complaining about the blending in Vegas or not, but if you are, just right-click the clip and choose to disable the resample. It'll just duplicate frames instead of blending them. The motion may be a bit more jerky, but at least you can mask properly.

As for masking in Photoshop, it's really no more difficult than in AE except for the fact that you have to mask image sequences instead of just masking frames in a video file. Just use the pen tool if you use Photoshop. The eraser is only to be used if you're a masochist. =\

Heck, for that matter, masking in Vegas is almost the same as masking in Photoshop. Just use the Anchor Creation Tool if you want to do it in Vegas. Conveniently enough, it looks exactly like the Pen tool in Photoshop and works in almost the exact same manner as well.
... yea ...
