Green boxes and heavy noise

Post by Hareoic » Wed Feb 25, 2009 7:33 pm

For some reason, the footage from some of my DVD rips is covered in green boxes after I decode the project file (MPEG2Source). It seems to go away in a few frames, but then any parts with movement in them have so much noise and blocking and whatnot that IVTC seems to screw up every time I try. Can somebody tell me what's going on and how to fix this?

Did that several times. Doesn't seem to help, regardless of the program used.

Geneon. Specifically the fourth, fifth, and sixth installments of When They Cry/Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

And yeah, I only managed to rip it in the first place by using AnyDVD, as not even DVDFab could make it work.

.. it shouldn't matter; it didn't remove the micro's!!

There are times when a copy-of-a-copy will not rip; usually when there are more than two interlacing
functions taking place. "Rizelmine" and "Hand Maid May" were victims of this problem a few years ago!

the only solution that might help, sounds rather strange, clean the "eye" of your DVD Player/Recorder.

Also ripped them with the newest version of DGIndex (newer than the one included in the AMVApp beta) and yeah, I put the new dgdecode.dll in the right folder.

...Actually, seems like ALL the DVD rips of that series have that problem for some reason. Maybe AnyDVD did something to it.

First problem resolved. It helps if you only index one chapter at a time instead of the whole DVD.

actually a lot of the geneon releases (the ones Funi are distributing) and some of the new bandai releases they have started some kind of new encryption that seems to be causing a lot of scrambling when ripping them with virtualdub...
