Final voting: March 17 - March 23

Older news:

3/17/09 - We have arrived at the final round! Check out the finalists and make your selections by next Monday, March 23. The winners will be announced on Tuesday. :)
There is no official finalists video pack this year, so please use the queue instead. This will allow videos to retain stats and QCs for downloads made during this round of the VCAs. (If anybody wants to put together a finalists pack including a playlist and category title cards, that would be fine with me as long as everything is accurate.)
Good luck to the finalists, and to everybody else - enjoy.

3/9/09 - And now we've arrived at the semifinal round. Be sure to get your votes in by next Monday.
To encourage participation, we have enabled the queue feature for ALL members (not just donators) with respect to contest entries. This will make it easier for you to download all of the entries in a category. Check it out here. (Thanks, doki.)

3/3/09 - The nominations stage has begun! New things to do:
Go to the main contest page and check out the new "NOMINATE" menu.
1. The "My Stars Tool" might help you remember some of the videos that you enjoyed in 2008.
2. Nominate videos here! Remember to read all of the categories descriptions so you know what each award calls for.

2/17/09 - At long last, the 2009 Viewers' Choice Awards are ready to roll!
Here's what you can do:
1. If you want to enter, go make sure you're qualified. Yes, you will have to re-check the "all my videos are entered" box in your profile settings. You must do this by next Monday, March 2. Do it now so you won't forget!
2. Check with your friends and make sure that they haven't forgotten to get qualified.
3. Read over the rules. They are the same as last year's, but a refresher never hurts.
4. Discuss the contest in the 2009 VCA forum.

There's a voter agreement this year that mentions videos may feature adult content, so I would imagine that puts you in the clear.

Speaking of the voter agreement, are we not allowed to vote if we don't click that box?

Actually I don't think so:
One more thing – because this is a contest open to voters of all ages, videos containing excessive sexual content and violence (as in, NC-17 rated or worse) will not be allowed to compete. If you're using off-site hosting because your video is too sexual or violent to be hosted locally, then we will have to disqualify the video if it gets nominated. You will be notified if this occurs. This will not affect any of your other eligible videos.

What? Then what's the point of the voter agreement?

While videos containing NC-17 level material (such as hentai) are NOT allowed to compete in the VCAs, there may be a few nominated videos that contain scenes, lyrics, or concepts of a mature nature.

That would be correct.

The point of the voter agreement is to compensate for the fact that not all videos containing questionable content (around R-level) adequately say so in their descriptions. Just to make sure that people know what they're potentially getting into, and to protect us in case of complaints.
