Vegas AR options are screwing me....

Postby Vivaldi » Sun Jan 04, 2009 10:52 pm

I've got a 4:3 source that I need to crop to 16:9 and scale up. However, rather than irreversibly cut 60px off the top and bottom, I was wondering if it's possible to scale up to 848x600, set my project to 848x480, and simply move it around as the case calls for. But vegas won't let me do it. If the maintain AR box is checked, it forces black bars no matter what. If it's unchecked, then it squashes down to fit the screen. Does anyone know a way around this? Or am I stuck with set cuts?

I'm using 6.0 btw, but I don't think it makes much difference.

you do want to keep the maintain aspect ratio button checked...

you should be able to drag in either just the sides or just the top and bottom if you have the right buttons selected...

make sure you have the top one that is circled in this picture unselected but the bottom one selected and adjust as needed, or you can scan through the presets and see if there is one you like.

you can also save your own presets if you choose to create your own setting
