Ga-Rei Zero

Plot summary according to ANN:

Freshman Nimura Kensuke has the ability to see ghosts, and his life changes when he meets Kagura, a girl with the power to summon a "Ga-Rei" called Byakuei. The two work together to find evil spirita and devour them with the Ga-Rei.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense has an anti-paranormal special forces group called the Supernatural Disaster Prevention Agency. They are the ones responsible to protect Japanese soil and its people from supernatural and paranormal events. However, things didn't go so well in one of their missions...

My thoughts:

The first episode was epic by itself tbh. I don't know really anything about the anime at this point or the manga. Just watched it recently, so I can't answer any questions even if I wanted to. This anime has promise though if you go by how awesome the first episode was.

As for the first episode in brief:
How often do you see people fighting with a motorcycle as their weapon!? There was plenty of action in this episode. I'm thinking the next episode is gonna just be recovery along with some character developments. Most of the people looked liked they died. It's strange to introduce so many characters and have them die on the first episode but w/e. All I care about is that Natsuki Kasuga lives lol... The designs for the beasts/ghosts are pretty solid, the storyline seems solid too. Toru Kanze apparently lost someone dear to him by the antagonist, a powerful ghost. He's hunting him down now and has(Or i guess had since most of them look like they died) a team of select people with unique skills/abilities for ridding the ghosts. That's all I can say at this point.
Can't wait for the next episode. I just consider it a refresher from your common action anime at the very least. It appears there's gonna be some good drama too.

As a fan of the manga, I should tell you that the anime is (not entirely) unrelated to the timeline of the manga.

It takes place several years before that of the manga with a different cast and an alternate story. That being said, your plot summer and related picture are both for the manga, not the anime.

I've only seen the first half of the anime, which was decent in every right. Very nice animation quality, and the story was (what I saw of it) pretty solid. My only irk with it was that I didn't like the characters all that much, whereas in the manga the characters were all very likeable.

Still, given that I haven't even finished watching the first episode, I'll give it some more time and continue to follow it.

Actually the picture is for the manga. Your correct. I used it cause it was the best looking picture I could find.

Well... The summary was copied from ANN. The first part of it goes hand in hand with the manga. The part below it covers how the anime starts. I've not known ANN to give false summaries for animes >_>...

From the looks of it it looks like the first episode is just a story of before the manga started according to what you have said. Now its gonna start the part with:

"Freshman Nimura Kensuke has the ability to see ghosts, and his life changes when he meets Kagura, a girl with the power to summon a "Ga-Rei" called Byakuei. The two work together to find evil spirita and devour them with the Ga-Rei."

But... I could be wrong. Either way, I'm still waiting for that next episode.

Um, WTF.
The episode ended with all of the charcters being brutally murdered.
I'm assuming that this episode was just an introduction to the setting and that the real plot and real protagonists will take over next episode.

Finished watching the second half of the first episode. Damnit this was awesome.
The girl who kills the entire team is actually Kagura's older sister (for those of you that don't know, Kagura is the female lead in the manga).

I was really surprised when I saw her appear, and this is already a sign that the two stories will be more closely linked than I previously thought, which is a good thing since I really love the manga.
Anyway, with how episode 1 ended, I'm very curious to see what happens next.

I checked the episode after it´s release and than I checked the manga because I was interessted.

Alright it made not really sense or connection, but I´m still really interessted into it. There is action, there is style and there is a good potential that the charackters are interessting and have some stories behind them. It depends now on how the next episodes can please me. I´m also interessted how the serious will look like with all day scenes. I doubt that every episode only shows a mission :P

The end of the first episode was just awsome and makes lust to check out the next ones. Did you noticed the unusal outro? There wasn´t one! Just a black screen, with the credits as text and the sound of fire in the background. Cool.

I hope it goes more into direction of the manga. I want him to have this nice sword. He doesn´t really look good with the two pistols for me :?

damnit, they sure like to impose cliff hangers at the end of episodes.

Ep2
More action, was pretty badass. I take it the youngest kagura sister is the main chacter here but it looks like she died at the end of the episode though i doubt she did. The older ones a real evil bitch thats for sure lol... I like how she can shoot her sword from its holster, thats a pretty unique trick.
If they keep ending every episode like this, I'ma die from anticipation for the next ones.

Now I saw two, well three characters from the first 5 manga chapters! The anime keeps on the quality of the first ep. I hope that they´ll bring in more background stories of the characters. There´s still quite potential for good plots.
Oh my god. Those cliffhangers are so mean : ( Everybody just dies. Fighting with a holster is indeed a cool skill.
TBH since the manga hasn't ended (or atleast from what I know it hasn't), I'm glad they are showing stuff prior to it. This gives more time for the manga to progress. This show might even have another season since they are showing prior stuff that gives em more stuff to work with and more time to reach an ending point.

I hate animes that end but dont really finish cause the manga keeps going. I don't know why it bothers you so much, this is only the first 2 episodes. There could be 2 or more seasons for all we know. It's too early to tell. Guess I need to start reading the manga as well just incase it does drop off on the ending or doesn't go into the manga in depth storyline wise.

:O

That is true.

I don't like that either.
I guess this anime serves as a filler to get more profit for the manga and add some cash in their bank.

I'll probably keep watching this because I like Ga-Rei <_<

After watching the first two episodes, I only reall have one guess on the apparent contradiction of the anime to the manga.
I think their trying for a different sort of begining to differentiant this anime from others, cause if you looked at the manga, if it was directly moved to the anime, it would be the same as alot of anime, main character has some odd ablilty, mets someone else (usually of opposite sex) with even more odd ability, and the story goes from there. I think their going for a different sort of begining to make it more unquie. Thats my geuss anyway.
Ok, so episode two really surprised me.
The hell? I've seen 4 characters now, all of whom appear in the manga. I have to wonder what happened to all the people from the 4th division, who apparently got killed in the first episode. I'm curious to see if they play any important role later down the track, seeing as they did have an entire episode dedicated to them (unless of course it all acted as a plot device to introduce Yomi)

Anyway, the more I watch this the more I like it, as it appears to be heading moreso in the direction of the manga than I initially believed.
As awesome as I thought the first 2 episodes were the storyline is jumping all over the place it seems. I wish it would stop and just focus somewhere.

Ep3:
K so now we've been transfered to the past, apparently we get some storyline between the two sisters (Guess they aren't bilogical sisters). It was a cute episode, thats all there is to it really. The cliffhanger from the second episode is still there. We don't know what happened after the sword slash (THX YA FUGGIN SCRIPTERZ).
If this non linear timeline style continues (jumpin all over the place), I'm gonna end up not watching the rest of this and go straight to the manga :x .

PS.
WHY THE HELL DID THE PEOPLE IN THE FIRST EPISODE HAVE TO DIE! I would of loves a series over just those guys. The chick with the bike was awesome and the guy with the guns just as awesome.
