Revised Forum Descriptions (guide link)

Postby Ashyukun » Tue Nov 19, 2002 1:26 pm

After having followed the video and audio forums for a while now, and how many times (though it seems to be getting better) people ask questions that are very obviously answered in the guides, might it be a good idea to add a comment to the descriptions of some of the forums (like the Video Software Help, General Video, General Audio, etc.) that says something like:

"Please check the guides [link]here[/link] before posting a question in this forum" and possibly even "and run a search to see if your question has been answered already." (though that might be a bit much...)

I would think that people would see the link to the guides off the main page and check there first, but history has shown this to not always be the case. This way we could avoid people getting annoyed at questions that are answered in the guide being asked all the time as well as avoid a bit of embarassment on the part of the poster when they realize their question is answered in the guide (after getting a Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides post).

Doing so may be a tad difficult and would mess with the layout of the boards. However what might be a good idea is to stick a permanent sticky topic in each forum that points to the guides with a title of something similar to what you stated. That way upon entering the forum you can see right there that there are guides.
