What's still good after all this time?

Postby Bushido Philosopher » Mon Nov 18, 2002 2:14 am

No matter how many AMVs come our way...after so many years...there's still that one that always gets to you...no matter if its obselete quality or whatnot.

So what would be yours?

Mine would have to be Ah! My Goddess - DJ Mystik - To Love You More.
After all the AMV's I've ever watched, I always enjoy watching this.

I prefer the funny ones and the one that has been my fave for a long time has to be failed experiments...

More than a few people still remark upon my Nausicaa video, and it's about a decade old.

I've also had two people email me recently who recall my Akira and Wings of Honneamise videos with equal alacrity.

Sappy Self Indulgance restored my faith in videos that don't need fancy effects. Happiness Dojo was humerous as well.

I still watch TommyRude's The Hell That is Keitaro's Life regularly, just because I've always had a thing for that video.

I love that video quite a bit too...
In all hindsight and memory retrospect though, nothing hit me like Odorikuruu...

Mine's gotta be some DBZ Realvideo (don't hurt me! ) to Nights Of Fire. No matter how old or bad quality it was, I ain't forgettin it anytime soon.

Also Abaddon's 'In The End' to Evangelion, the first real good quality vid I downloaded.

I liked it so much I went to the lengths of replacing the audio with the uncompressed version because it just sounded so much better :]

I think he ran uncompressed audio in his recent remaster actually.

I'd have to say Pain of Ryoko's Heart by Eric Jones (Yakumo on this site). I like the original version better than the remake myself, although I have both copies... ^_^

Another one that still moves me, even though I saw it about a year ago by this point, is Try by William Milberry (Aluminumstudios).

It would appear I worded that poorly. Not Real*tm* good quality vid, just 'real good quality vid, it was mpeg.

And I've found a number of the slightly larger Realvideos to be not bad.

Caffine Encopium is the best no effects vid, and even a poor capture.

No no, I meant what I said. Realmedia DOES NOT MEAN BAD QUALITY and anyone who says this deserves to be shot, beaten with a sqirrel, and tied to a sunken submarine.
I have the legit mpeg version too and.. well... its not exactly what I'd call real good quality thats all. Watch one of AbsoluteDestiny's vids and you can see what a well educated video encoder can do.
