VLC or KMPLayer might do the trick too...

But installing CCCP first is not a bad idea :p

VLC mostly, but I like Chroma, MPlayer, and Xine as well. Note, I am not sure if the latter three have Windows equivalents.

Note to VLC users: After a considerable amount of development, a new version is out. (0.9.2)

And on another note, AviSynth 2.5.8 is now at its fourth Release Candidate, and should be done soon.

PS: Slycet, your sig is too big. See the org Forum Rules.

Does it handle soft ASS/SSA subs correctly and not show comments like it used to?

Its softsub support is significantly improved thanks to the addition of libass, previously only used in MPlayer. They did switch to an inferior Matroska parser "for security reasons" so that has its own share of problems, but overall it's an improvement over the 0.8.x branch. CCCP on Windows and MPlayer on other systems are still superior playback solutions, but upgrading VLC is a good idea for anyone who doesn't want to leave VLC just yet. Also, fullscreen controls.
