Burning Photos Effect?
I've got this concept planned, and in it, at one point, a bunch of photos fly by. After a while, the area around the center of the photos starts to glow, then a ring or blob of flame (or whatever it is that comes before fire yet still chars stuff) emenates from the center, the photos slowly turning black as the thin line of heat eats away at the color, turning them to ashes.
All I have to actually make this effect is Photoshop and the AMVApp, as I have to put my Movies together in Windows Movie Maker. So... How can I put this together?

or seriously consider getting after effects and/or particle illusion?
Not quite.
Photoshop is mostly for creating images using layers and effects. Most of the banners you see on this site might very well be made with Photoshop. It's primary use in the AMV world is rotoscoping or masking,
After Effects can take images and animate them. You can import video clips and add swanky effects or just create complex comps using hundreds or clips, images, text, effects, ect to later import into a program like Premiere.
Needless to say, AE is not a downgraded Photoshop. Both are VERY powerful programs that work well alone but are designed to play very nicely with each other once you learn to use them.

Shortly put, After Effects is for videos what photoshop is for still Images. Most of the real fancy effects videos you see incorperate AE at least somewhat.Hareoic wrote:Wait... After Effects isn't a downgraded version of Photoshop?JaddziaDax wrote:draw it out frame by frame yourself in photoshop?

Forget the green background and just don´t use any background and use the Alpha channel for transparence in the .png file format. Maybe WMM can deal with RGBA pics.JaddziaDax wrote:yeah, well that also requires WMM to have Chroma Keying... unless there is some kind of "effect pack" for WMM with that has that option?...
I just stated that cause he said all he has is WMM and photoshop.. O.o
With Photoshop and WMM alone I doubt that you can achieve this effect.
