Video Synch Roll in AE (similar to Vegas' Tv Simulator)

Post by rook2pawn » Fri Aug 29, 2008 3:38 am

In Magic Pad, at 2:27 there is an example of what i think is a video "out-of-synch" roll.. id like to do something like this. aka vertical roll

The effect is also similar to the one in Vegas' tv simulator "vertical synch"

Any ideas? Thanks

If iam right, so Nostromo dont use AE.
It can be that this effect is used with a plugin like Malfunction in Premiere.

This effect is called "effort" :P

Create a project and place your project in there. Pan a clip over the screen. pan the next clip over the screen right after the first one. Of course you can add a border for a better film look.

Export the clip

Add it to your timeline. Rotate it a bit (could be done in the first project file), maybe zoom in it, add gaußian blur for simulating motion blur. Adjust velocity.

Profit. I think it´s better to do it yourself instead of an effect like tv malfunction. You´ll have much more control over the scene.

You might want to watch this vid for more inspiration and an idea how it could look like:

Nostromo uses Premiere Pro 2.0 and Paintshop Pro 8.0 :P

I'm not sitting in front of a computer with any of my Adobe software on it, but... isn't there a 'Vertical Hold' effect in Premiere that will do this exact thing? I'm not sure about in AE- but I'm pretty certain (at least in my old 6.5, presumably if you're using something newer it's still there) that Premiere can do it with a simple stock effect.

(I realize the question was about in AE, but I'm assuming you're also using Premiere...)
