My advice to this MEP is to start over and ask people if they still want their tracks in... To be honest i dont even like my old track that i did 2 years ago *cough*, I'd like to do a new one now that im SLIGHTLY more experienced >_>... I'd probably use burst angel this time for realz... Just need to find some jpop song since u dont seem to like anything else.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

its not that i dont like anything else, the problem with the entire MEP after watching all the finals is audio consistency ~_~

I had the same problem with the xmas mep, it made me understand why AMV hell had transition segments and didn't run just 1 piece to another.
But, all you need to do is group the segments into audio that will flow from 1 song to another and overlap/transition them.. sounds so easy when I write it >.>
Easiest way is to make an audio timeline and just swap segments around till it sounds right and then that's your playlist order. At the end you wont be 100% happy with it but you just have to bite the bullet. You could try a transition trick like a film reel (in AE of course) or a monitor/coridoor moving from 1 segment to another... probably needs some camera work in ae... or one of theose large matices with heaps of different clips all laid out... err also another ae thang *shrugs* just some ideas

Considering how many final segments you have (a novelty for a MEP) this shoulda been finished ages ago WAlien :( I was almost gonna say "gimme the damn segments and i'll arrange them, but i know how slow our aussie interwebs is and it would take forever to upload. :P

And yeah I made my first segment ages ago too and I'm much better at editing now but I'll keep it in (XD maybe you should put the year/month finished in the credits for a laugh)

and on that note new beta since I'm litterally stuck from progressing on about 7 other projects I whipped that up in 3 hours last night (I'll be finished later this week) that's just a first export from premiere so there's some timing issues and about 20 seconds of mecha fighting missing off the end that i haven't done yet, but nee way it gives you the idea.

git cracking viney *whips you*

UPDATE:

Okay I have just rendered out the first beta of the entire thing. It is just over 13mins long, and this is excluding my Gurren Lagaan track, the starting and ending credit and Niwa's track... I'm not sure whether Niwa actually had a link to his final before he went off to Japan, at least I can't seem to find an msn log of it. NIWA SINCE YOU WON'T ANSWER MY MSN, I'LL ASK HERE *DID YOU SEND ME A LINK TO YOUR FINAL?* I may have been out of quota at the time and didn't download your final so just checking.

Okay I was going to re-open this MEP, since I could have had editors like ScorpionP in since this MEP is practically made up of half of Walkure studio but I figured with the final length looking at 15-16mins it would be a good idea to stop it as it is. I do plan to do another Mecha MEP at some stage and do it properly this time - creating a jrock mix and splitting it up and getting people to choose which audio they want, as there are some awesome mecha stuff lately - Trans-Am in Gundam 00, Macross Frontier, Code Geass R2 mech upgrades... err I think Dragonnaut is a mecha anime? In any case, the next one should be done right and if someone else wants to coordinate it in my stead then feel free XD

Okay when it finishes uploading onto my fileserver I'll be pming everyone with a link to the beta. I will need input in case someone can think up of creative transitions, else I'll just cross fade everything. Also if people are happy with the final arrangement of the tracks and audio transitioning, else tell me what you think would be better arranged, like switch which tracks around.

...Also tell me ASAP if you think I left a track out. There were a couple of finals which weren't in my MM MEP project folder so I hope I didn't leave anything out @_@

Cheers.

edit: okay it didn't export properly, it skipped the first half of the video and the last half of the audio and combined the second half of the video with the first half of the audio,

edit2: couldn't export out in lossless but MJPEG worked. enjoy crappy quality beta =)

beta link sent to everyone. Let me know if you didn't get it. The next beta I send will have a smaller filesize thanks to Autraya teaching me xvid compression, I started uploading this one earlier today so not much point stopping it mid-way to do another encode ~_~

hmmm.... good choice using mine for the credits. The audio sticks out like a sore thumb... That and I edited it about 2 years ago. ;) Want me to use a more updated audio choice with the same source?

I will comment more on transition ideas and stuff after I watch it a couple more times.

One thing that you can think about are still frames of the final and first frames of the clips. I used them a lot with the VDay MEPs because of the variance I had in the audio samples that people used. It doesn't have to be a long transition, but some of the quick switches you have now are a bit jarring.

anyhoo - update soon.

ok some comments:
My audio on the first track sounds terrible... I guess that's my fault tho I'll look for a .wav to send you but i dont think i have one anymore x_x.

1st transition Gravion + some anime I dont know
I don't like the checker/boxes there maybe a drictional blur? can the next track start to come in a little earlier? say on the last "durnt"

2nd transition... cross fade the audio a little and you could bring in the new track with similar boxes to the effects in the track.

transition between code geas/nightwish and within temptation (noidea on anime...) Here I was thinking the WT track starts with white on black background... that makes it easy to do a luma key overlapping the tracks.

Rayearth this one is very dark compared to others I'd suggest adding a tweak to the import script and upping the brightness by about 10% it also needs some sharpening snd is full of artefacts. (not that the others aren't from the compression but this one it's more noticeable)

Sokou no Strain... I watched this one and an thought "that looks like Flame/Clamp-X 's editing" that track fucking "pwns".

Heroic Age >.> I made it 848X480 so you could fit it in eitherway but it looks sexier in widescreen (now that I've watched it in 4:3) hrmm the audio just doesn't quite fit between the track and heroic age... not sure wha tyou can do about it either :[
also might wanna shorten the gap between jubber's track and mine.

anyway that's just some ideas/comments/observations :P

Rayearth final was given in .mpeg, not sure if the artefacts can be saved ~_~ but I'll bump up the brightness

and jubness, i think your audio is fine, it adds this irreplaceable 'oldschool' feeling XD
