Does your ISP throttle your bittorrent traffic?

Postby Orwell » Sun Jun 29, 2008 2:06 pm

Test to supposedly find out if your BT traffic is throttled. Seems valid, or at least inline with what I've personally observed.

...and yes, Comcast sucks balls. I had them in California and hated them. It's been widely reported that they've been doing some pretty bad things to their customers as of late and it's all coming out recently (this among them). I don't remember if they're spying on their customers just yet though, that might just be Time Warner or somebody.

I have Comcast and it says I'm fine. Actually, I swear I've seen powerboost even work on my uploads . Encryption on a non standard port ftw?

Well I mean, my upload speeds on powerboost have been kick ass. Though granted its slower than what I get on FTP, but I don't know if thats due to comcast or what...

Throttling is officially happening here, but to answer the question, effectively speaking no, they are not.

But then I was given the inside dope by a fairly tech savvy friend of mine on what torrent program to use, and how to set it up and how to set up my modem and router.

As a result, although torrents are indeed being throttled, it just doesn't matter to me.

neaner neaner neaner :) Get bent Bell Canada, throttle this :!: (as close as I can get to simulating a raised finger).
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

Does it count as being throttled if I never remember to use Bittorrent?
