Webcomics

Postby CodeZTM » Fri Jun 27, 2008 4:57 pm

So, as of late, I've started getting more and more into webcomics. Sure, I've only got three that I actually update with, but it's just something I like.

Basically, just reccomend webcomics you've seen over the years and enjoyed, or talk about ones that were awful or junk.

Here's my three that I love.

CrtlAltDel

First webcomic I ever actually read all the way through. I like the overall storyline of (video gaming roommates with other obscure theatre and computer references abound), through right now it's a bit too serious for my taste. It's hilarious, high paced and funny. Sure there are a TON of words in each scene, but I like reading. :O

Least I Could Do

I just got into this one a couple of weeks ago, and I really love it! Sure, it's really sexual-based and the characters are questionable and the amount of blashphemy and offense are off the charts, but I really like the characters. :O No linky because it's kind of more 18+ in my mind. :O

Zero Punctuation

Sure, it's not really a webcomic, but I still update weekly on it. It's a video game review segment with a loud pottymouthed britisih australian reviewer that tells it like it is. Funniest crap I've seen in a long time. Updates every wednesday. :O

I prefer reading this blog to webcomics.

The only webcomics I read anymore are Order of the Stick and Fanboys Online. The former is an amazing webcomic any way you slice it, and the latter actually broke away from being a crappy gaming comic to a nice excuse for a guy to make stupid gags and draw idiotic faces.

For RPG webcomics, check out RPG World and Adventurers! - they are both classics that have been around a long time.

Currently, while RPG World is still in limbo (and being updated liberally and referenced here and there in the artist's other works), Adventurers finished up their comic completely.

(Oh, and don't mind the fact that the first few strips of Adventurers! looks amateurish. Mark Shallow does get better at it down the line. )

I picked up a few through being bored at work. Started reading 8-bit Theater over 4 years ago. I honestly can't believe a sprite comic based on FF1 is still going on (it's over 1000 strips now).

I used to enjoy VGCats back when it updated more frequently than once or twice a month (hasn't for well over a year now).

Dokool got me into Something Positive about 3 years ago. I don't know how to classify the humor in SP - it's a mix of dark parody and things you hear from irritating stupid people.

Dominic Deegan was another thing I got into when I was bored at work several years back. The almost daily update schedule meant I could ignore it for a while and spend something like an hour catching up on an entire story arc. Very pun-driven humor, but the story line is decent for a free comic).

I've been following LFG since it started, and was surprised at how corporate it seemed to get right off the bat.

Lastly, I'd loose my geek cred if I didn't follow XKCD. Oddly enough, this comic had been brought up in at least 4 of my CS classes (by professors noless) multiple times.

When I'm reminded I read looking for group O.o I have to admit that this is the reason for that...

VG Cats comes up when Yue sends them to me.

John was sending me xkcd the other day, and I read those when people post them in their eljays..

I'm not a huge comic reader though

I only read webcomics when bored at work. That being said, here's the ones I follow if you count missing months at a time as 'follow'.

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
Partially Clips
8 bit theatre and xkcd as others mentioned.
And it's not a continuing webcomic like the others but Scott McClouds webcomics are rather interesting. Really odd layouts, which is half the fun.

Definitely a nod to XKCD, VGCats (when updated), and Perry Bible Fellowship. Megatokyo, but I rather like waiting for the published volumes of the story and binge all at once than to wait for parts of the story to come out week by week.

Not so much a webcomic in the geek sense of the word, but rather funny: Cyanide and Happiness

One more vote for xkcd. I don't really read any other webcomics.

Everything else has been mentioned, but, Sexy Losers. He still updates from time to time, though it's been a couple months since his last one.
