well giving opinions is an interesting way to try to make friends here...

considering that depending on the person you are giving the opinion to and the degree of harshness they usually enjoy that can sometimes uh do the exact opposite of "making friends".

I'm not going to ask for an op because unlike the rest of the people on here I can read... :P

the leeches that see a thread (without many restrictions on it) that offers free ops they will jump at the chance, even if they get turned down, and they start posting like crazy. So, writing "free ops" alone can attract a lot of people...

That's how ops should be done! You can see my detailed comments on my op from the "MY OPS GIVEN" button on the main page. Thanks a lot again for the great op! :D

And I second what the other 2 said, lol. In case you need any help, feel free to ask.

Op posted. It took me about an hour to write. As with my other ops, I hope you find use from it.

And that's the first three completed opinions here... I'll likely do CodeChrono's video soon because it's short. I've watched Senvae's a few times, and have an idea of what I want to say but haven't put much effort to it yet.

@vivaldiscool: I appreciate the direct links to those videos. I'll probably end up watching them tonight. And yeah, top 10 is a lot more manageable than top 12,000. LOL.

@JaddziaDax: LOL. True that this can do the opposite. I don't mind, because if someone doesn't respect my honesty then they're likely not someone I want to be friends with in the first place, eh? :) You have a good point about people posting even if they get turned down. I, however, already wrote that I would do the ops so I won't reverse that. However, if you do want a video op'ed, I'll "reserve" a spot for you. (Because I respect that you could have posted a video, but understood that I really did only want 3 and decided not to.) Note this offer is only for JaddziaDax, so you other leechers don't start posting new videos yet. XD;;;

@Funky-kun: You're welcome. I read your response before I saw this post, but thanks for the instructions anyway :D I appreciate your "that's how ops should be done," because you not only acknowledge the time I spent on it, but (incidentally) also my disappointment in the many thoughtless ops thrown around like candy.

Mini-rant: Perfect 10 scores with comments like "I like you, so here is a good score for your video" don't help anybody. :( It inflates video ratings, provides no useful advice/benefit for the editor's future videos, and waste space better used for meaningful ops.

As for the status of my own video:

I purchased the software today (gotta love eduction discount... 1/3 the price), and also have the full collector's edition of the anime sitting next to my laptop now (found it, hah!). Of course it's now that I'm ready that I realized I have 2gigs of free space. XD. So I'll begin my own captures/edits as soon as I get an external hard drive (tomorrow).

Question: AMVapp doesn't seem like it's been updated in years. Is it just a collection of other software programs? Or does it provide an interface to cohesively bring the other programs together? If I do download it, and subsequently download the newer versions of each contained application, will this "interface" still operate correctly?

The amvapp is just a collection of software... if you want an update on it Zarxrax is currently working on a set of beta guides as an update to the eadfag guide...

As for leaving me an op, only if you want to leave one, I don't have a particular video in mind though. I'm not particularly "hurting" for ops right now either, so no worries.

Grammatically you aren't wrong, but conceptually it doesn't quite make sense: "So without further goodbyes, here is..." And sorry, I'm an English major... XD)

*tears* I'm gonna love this guy!

The reverse is also true. Leaving retarded, 0 score opinions simply because you don't like them, the song, or the anime isn't any help either.

Judging from your character so far, I can't wait to see your fisrt AMV. Mine sucked. I had no motivation other than, "F*** you, Joe!" Hope you have fun making your vid, as that is the important thing. Welcome to the Org and have a nice stay.

:o Wow, I hear you man. Just the other day I was OPing a relatively populer videos, so after I got done, I saw the other OPs. In one of the (I won't point any fingers) a very respected editor with video(s) in the top ten, just left... *checks math*
1730 "NOM"s In Each, Freaking, Category. And I only had time to count the shortest category, so it got bigger. Minimum 5190 NOMs :? I almost started a thread over it.

Yeah. They're starting to make me giggle inside. Not only did one of them post a video that clearly does not have English lyrics (although I can understand some rudimentary German), but they don't even seem to be appreciative of the (now expired) offer! "It would be great" is far from "I would really appreciate." LOL. And then one has the gall to just post a video without any kind of message at all. I know who I'm not op'ing for! :D

@vivaldiscool: Yeah. If I were you, I would have posted a topic about it. There are endless suggestions, recommendations, and even a guide about posting opinions; but without any kind of "enforcement," the opinion system is going to be abused. It's just the nature of people in general. It's my own estimation that "Usefulness" is based (at least partially) on word count of opinions, thus that "nom nom nom nom..." opinion boosting both the video's score and the opine-er's usefulness score. Huge abuse, in my book. Then again, stirring the waters--especially when the editor in question has video(s) in top-10--is also a good way to make a lot of enemies, even if it does benefit the community as a whole.

@Hiro TDK: Thanks for the kind words :) I completely agree with your inverse of my example, but meant for that to be implied.

@JaddziaDax: Thanks a bunch for the link. Even though it's beta, I wonder why it isn't listed in the Guide list... If, in the future, you do find yourself "hurting" (or "hunting," as I first read it, LOL) for ops just shoot me a PM. :)

Got external harddrive today, so now I'm pulling footage from my DVDs. I really need to work on being more terse here on the forum... XD

it's not in the official guides right now because it hasn't been finalized, he is still making a lot of adjustments and such to it, and no stress :3

Please and thank you.

LIke the others said, I'd be happy to help you out. Sounds like you're doing pretty good so far. :)

Posted my op of your video. It's not as detailed as my previous ops, but I also had a lot less to op. As with the others, I hope it's useful :)
