Looking for a specific type of anime romance

Postby Songbird21 » Fri Apr 18, 2008 4:04 pm

Hey guys. :)

I'm looking for some new romances to play with for my AMVs. The romances don't hafta be in a shoujo anime. No manga please. Here's my criteria:

1. Starts with them not involved and takes at least six or seven episodes for them to admit their feelings.

2. Must be het. I love shounen-ai, but it won't work for the songs I'm using.

3. MUST have at least one kiss that is intentional and happy.

4. MUST have a happy ending. I hate tragic romances.

5. Must have an admission of liking/loving each other.

6. I would prefer there be some action (I love romances between fighters) but it's not a requirement.

7. NO shouta and NO incest. I think both are gross.

Here's the ones I've seen that included some romance:
1. Inu Yasha (One kiss but it doesn't count cause it was to save him)
2. Love Hina (Didn't like it. Naru was a serious bitch)
3. Fruit's Basket
4. Kodocha
5. Sailor Moon
6. Mai Hime

Okay people--hit me! ^_^\/

Kanon (2006) Watch the ending, it's the most touching and happy ending ever, I cried like a little baby.
Don't worry though it often seems like nothing is going right, everything works out in the end.
Mai's demon fighting is action

There is a kiss. (more than one)

Takes a while for the confession.

Fortunately, no incest. I don't really know what shouta is so watch and decide.

I'd also say CLannad but there isn't really any kisses in the first season.
Thanks! I'll check these out. And it doesn't matter if it happens in the first season or not, so long as they are a true couple by the end of the series.

I'd offer up Berserk, but that is about as tragic as it gets. I'll also add Slayers to the list, but I forget if there is admissions of feeling outside of the overt signs of it.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya fits your criteria pretty well, though I'm not sure there's a clear admission of love.

Yeah. What I meant was, the second season of Clannad isn't out yet. But there is the movie, I haven't seen it so I don't know if there is a kiss. The movie is based on a visual novel called Clannad and the series is based on the same thing. The movie came before the show.

Kimikiss Pure Rouge. The entire series is one great big romance drama It's all great stuff, its all romance, there's more than one couple to work with, and yes, there are kiss scenes.

Kimegura Orange Road. The two main characters will require you to draw upon 48 eps, two OAVs and two Movies.

Sailormoon live action season. Total gold mine. And the fact it is live action gives you a nice twist.

His and Her Circumstances (Kare Kano)? The anime ends partway through a story arc  , but the primary focus of the majority of the early episodes are on Miyazawa and Arima's romance.

I'd suggest Suzuka, but if you thought Naru of Love Hina was a bitch...

You might want to try Stellvia, it's a sci-fi tale of a bunch of Space Academy cadets in training to prevent a second catastrophic event from wiping out mankind (space opera!). Trust me, there's romance.

Ai Yori Aoshi has a bunch of fanservice-y content, but the core story about the relationship between Aoi and Kaoru is pretty sweet. They admit their feelings for each other pretty early on, though. But there's not much action....

There's also Ah! My Goddess/Oh My Goddess! and the AMG Movie.

I'll second Stellvia of the Universe. I was very happy with that series.

As much as I love Kare Kano (which is a lot) and second that suggestion, I think the show I've seen that most closely fits your description is Lovely Complex.
