AMV Heck 2

Postby Ultimatetransfan » Fri Apr 04, 2008 5:42 am

Seeing as the future of the AMV Hell series is still up in the air, I'm looking to continue on the tradition within the AMV Heck series.

Theme

Anything you've come to expect from the Hell series. Musical clips, stand-up comedy, commercials, TV/movie quotes. Anything goes. The more obscure, the better. We're looking to make people smile or applaud a connection no-one could have ever conceived.

Rules & Requirements

I don't want to be a slave-driver, but I expect a high standard of work that AMV Hell 3 left us with. I do reserve the right too make the final call on whether something stays or goes, but if a problem arises, I hope we can come to a compromise that satisfies everyone.

1: Anyone is free to participate in the project. However, veteran editors with impressive videos under their belts are a must. You must be good with syncing, conveying your ideas and lip-synching (if you choose to make a video involving it). If this is your first AMV project, it is probably not for you; but if you feel you are up to the task, you will get your chance.

2: Any anime under the sun is free to be used with the exception of hentai series, and series with an abundance of blood and gore. Think PG-13. However, if you feel you can use one of these series without being too risqué (No nudity or flying body-parts), by all means go for it. There is no limit on the number of times a series may be used, but if we have an abundance of one particular series by the end, cuts may be made.

3: Any sort of audio may be used, and the more obscure, the better. I myself don’t really have any reservations about foul language, and don’t mind an F-bomb here or there, but please use your own judgment; we want everyone to be able to watch this.

4: If 2 or more editors have the same/similar idea, the video of better quality will be used, regardless of it 'being called first'.

5: At present, there is no deadline for clips. I believe better work is produced when someone isn’t working under the gun.

6: At present there is no limit on the number of clips. It will most likely be decided by the total time of all the clips together (I don’t think anyone wants to sit through something more than an hour or so long).

7: Clips will have a time limit of 45 seconds or less, with exception to the intro, middle/intermission, and end credits. However, I am flexible, so if you think you need a little bit extra, state your case.

8: Please please please, do not reuse ideas that you have already seen done in the past Hells UNLESS you think you can do it better. I’ve seen enough “I Like To Move It Move It” clips to last a lifetime.

Technical Stuff

1: High quality video please. No UTube rips, or stuff recorded from TV (I mean with the station’s logo in the corner). DVD’s are great if you’ve got them, but any good quality source is fine.

2: No subtitles, watermarks, DIVX logos or personal logos. If you are able to remove subtitles without compromising the quality of your video too badly, that’s fine.

3: High quality audio. No crackling or hissing stuff, because it generally just sounds awful, and makes people want to skip through it. If you can’t find a good version of what you need, we’ll try to help you out.

4: The final resolution of the video will be determined at the end, when we know how many 4:3 clips we have versus the number of 16:9 clips. Most likely the final answer will be 620 x 480 (4:3) or 720 x 480 (16:9). So anyone using a 16:9 source, be prepared to render as 4:3 if the time comes.

5: Frame rate should be 23.976fps, as most anime usually is.

6: For final versions, I’d prefer Huffy, and if not that, Xvid avi at 100% quality. But before that stage, I suggest you make a low quality beta, such as a wmv, so that you can receive feedback before you take all that time rendering a final version. Audio should be uncompressed, and following that, high quality mp3.

Here’s a list of file storage sites you can make use of for sending betas and final versions

isn't it more like 25 fps ??
sry I'm kinda new but every DVD I ripped had 25 fps .....

I've seen Various similar projects, but they were all crap. They had some just copies of amv hell and crappy quality and weren't really funny. I think the coordinators thought : "Damn I don't have enough clips to do a right amvhell-like porject, so I'll put in all the crap I recieved".

Hope U won't do so... I've kinda good ideas wich weren't there yet (I think) so I might send U sum betas.

PAL - 25 fps
NTSC - 29.97 fps

Well I see most of mkv/ogm raws in 23.976 fps o:
Anyway I didn't read through the first post as I'm not interested but I suggest change to 29.97 fps as the majority has NTSC DVDs and the Pal useres just convert it like usually. And good luck with the project ;O

Yes, good luck with this. I thought AMV Heck 1 was by far the best of the recent rash of comedy compliations that followed the release of AMV Hell 4.

I don't feel like getting banned again, so I won't say what I was going to say.

I'll stop spamming now =)
