you should only need to change the opacity of the video on the top line.

and i don't know if they are vista compatible because I donno anyone who has tried to run it on vista.

I think I've found the transition I was looking for.

Cause what I wanted was a greyscale picture turning into colour from a circle in the centre.

I found it under WAX transitions 2-oval in dissolve. But when I try and drag it between two clips,a window comes up with "please wait"

Image

Then after a while after I close the window this pops up

Image

its a bit long so here's the rest of what it said.

When I first downloaded WAX it said,I need the .Net framework for vegas 4+,so I download version 2.0 and when I tried to install it said I already had it with the operating system. So I went back and downloaded version 3.5 and waited for it to download and install but there wasnt really much of a difference.

I'm using microsoft vista by the way.

Oh and I figured out how to do the opacity stuff, been playing around with it yesterday

And when I closed that window,it closed the program. When I open the program again it works fine,I mean the program worked fine, not the transition.

Any help appreciated!or if not then any other way I could do roughly the same effect without using WAX?

Sometimes before that script error message comes up this comes up aswell.

I did try and use the cookie cutter but this happened.

Image

Another effect is having an oval shaped video play ontop of the current video. And having it move from one side to the other.Which I'm kinda clueless about, but I'll experiment while I wait for a reply(hopefully) and post any updates to see if I can get further help with it.

Judging from your screencaps, you're trying to everything with single clips. If so, start thinking in terms of layers. And that includes layering copies of the same clip.

Cause what I wanted was a greyscale picture turning into colour from a circle in the centre.

Something for you to try: Put two copies of the same clip on two tracks, one directly above the other and lined up precisely. Apply the black and white FX to the bottom copy. Drag a simple crossfade over the top clip at either end. Play back the result.

Next, add a cookie cutter FX to the top clip and playback. To get the expanding circle, put some keyframes on the circle cookie cutter.

the problem is that it only seems to show half a circle in the centre.is that something to do with the keyframes?because when I edit the settings, like the x and y thing, all it does is repeat the circle on the right hand side, but nothing happens on the left hand side of the clip at all :\

You are another newbie caught in the jaws of a trap that we set for our amusement.

But seriously... look at the toolbar on the top edge of your preview window. You want that icon that looks like a circle inside of a rectangle, one side shaded and the other not. Click on the drop-down arrow on the right side of that icon. Click "Select All". Then click directly on that icon.

What is happening is that you have effects turned off for the left side of the preview window. Not much use for what you are doing, but it can help when you are applying color-related effects (and other stuff).

oh I see it now!thanks, must have turned it off when I was playing around and clicked on everything to see what happened.

Also how do I get part of a clip to move from 1 side of the screen to the other?Like I have a video playing, but I want a part of another video playing aswell but at the same time moving from 1 side to another.I tried using the push and slide transitions and changed the opacity but it looks to obvious,I want it to move smoothly, any ideas?

Ah so do I mask out the part of the clip I want like it was a paino key,and paste it along the clip a few times while moving its position?

I looked around there to find something that would do that. What should I be looking for to allow me to move a clip to the corner side and zoom it in/out in order to fit.

Basically, I want this:

Image
To have Brawl Wolf and Fox in the corners.

I'd put a screen of it up from the GMV, but I got rid of the clip and don't feel like recreating it at the moment.

you can try the track motion instead of pan/crop because you are wanting to use the masking tool, though crackers will bitch about how it's no good. I believe that panning a masked image will not work out how you want it.

It sounds like you are looking for the masking tool and not necessarily the pan/crop.

But since it seems you don't know where to find either, to get to pan/crop:

and as for masking:
