Looking for a sentimental song

Postby MadScientist » Thu Mar 13, 2008 2:10 pm

My girlfriend is in another state right now and I want to make a video that talks about missing her. I have been digging through tons of music to find a song with the right mood and lyrics and just cant seem to find a good match. So i figured I would turn to all you guys for some tips. Here's what i am looking for:
-a sentimental/romantic song about missing your partner
-preferably acoustic or soft sounding
-preferred male vocalist (but not a requirement)
-preferred to have some nice instrumental breakdowns

Any ideas?

Sarah Brightman's Here With Me fits the bill (well, apart from the male vocalist part!). Big plus: she's not in that annoyingly operatic mode in it. It's from her La Luna album IIRC.

Porcupine Tree - Trains

(seriously, you can stop your search now O:)

Lyrics:

Train set and match spied under the blind
Shiny and contoured the railway winds
And I've heard the sound from my cousin's bed
The hiss of the train at the railway head

Always the summers are slipping away

A 60 ton angel falls to the earth
A pile of old metal, a radiant blur
Scars in the country, the summer and her

Always the summers are slipping away
Find me a way for making it stay

When I hear the engine pass
I'm kissing you wide
The hissing subsides
I'm in luck

When the evening reaches here
You're tying me up
I'm dying of love
It's OK

I'll check both of these out. The lyrics in that song you suggested Emong sound beautiful.

Yeah, I was thinking Porcupine Tree but like 20 songs came to mind, most of which aren't properly sentimental. Trains is the right one, though.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Try Incubus "I miss you"

To see you when I wake up
Is a gift I didn't think could be real.
To know that you feel the same as I do
Is a three-fold, Utopian dream.

You do something to me that I can't explain.
So would I be out of line if I said "I miss you"?

I see your picture.
I smell your skin on
The empty pillow next to mine.
You have only been gone ten days,
But already I'm wasting away.
I know I'll see you again
Whether far or soon.
But I need you to know that I care,
And I miss you.

Short but to the point...

How about this one?

I've been loving you too long to stop now

There were time and you want to be free
My love is growing stronger, as you become a habit to me
Oh I've been loving you a little too long
I dont wanna stop now, oh
With you my life,
Has been so wonderful
I can't stop now

There were times and your love is growing cold
My love is growing stronger as our affair [affair] grows old
I've been loving you a little too long, long,
I don't want to stop now
oh, oh, oh
I've been loving you a little bit too long
I don't wanna stop now
No, no, no

Don't make me stop now
No baby
I'm down on my knees Please, don't make me stop now
I love you, I love you,
I love you with all of my heart
And I can't stop now
Don't make me stop now
Please, please don't make me stop now
Good god almighty I love you
I love you, I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you
I love you in so many different ways...
I love you in so many different ways....

Dj Alligator - Blow my whistle bitch |:

If you really want to get her back don't take a song that's like "I'm sooo saad, I miss you" but one who says "I love you the most, even in hard times". So go with Nina - Love Moves In Mysterious Ways
