Even with all this, and the anime that is directed to younger audiences, all you have to do is understand it at a more mature level. Pokémon, it's primarily aimed at children, well I'm pretty sure, but if you think about the plot and the ideas more thoroughly, it becomes more interesting than just some kid with little monsters that he does the same thing over, and over, and over... Although this is true . Anyways, that's how i love almost all anime, I just understand it differently.

Sorry, Pokemon is a cartoon that only teaches basic societal interactions hopes and dreams. There is nothing deep. Watching it is only a way to convey to children how to carry on their lives.

...

Anyway, the long and short of it is, Pokemon teaches Kindergarten-like values about how to be a good person, how to interact with friends, etc. It's a teaching (as well as selling) device. It is not in any way shape or form thought-provoking.

Sorry? You make it sound like your sorry to hear that I'm wrong and you are right. :?

Anyways, whatever happened to the whole Beauty is in the eye of the beholder stuff. When you watch or see something, it all depends on the person about how much you get out of it. Some feel that the ideas and situations are able to be used in other senses as well as the way that they are directly shown, others believe otherwise.

And I would have to say that giving people hopes and dreams can definitely be soething quite deep. :D

Well ki isn't exactly an original concept. It's a common belief...but it doesn't extend to the point where people can create nuclear explosions. It's just an idea of your connection with your surroundings. For Akira Toriyama, it was simply another excuse to make characters more powerful. This is something he clearly spoke about in an interview. He was always searching for ways to make characters more powerful, so he elaborated on the idea of ki.

i didnt say it was original. but its one of the few i've seen that goes so far. and if one actually believes in ki i think what is shown would be quite plausible, provided one could attain a level as high as they do. and although its a very small point, i also like how their ki kinda affects the things around and within their aura, like the rocks floating and stuff. not a big deal, i just think its pretty neat. i also like how all their blasts when they land are very similar to atomic blasts complete with little mushroom clouds. it serves as kind of a reference to compare their power to. kinda off topic though

definately not all animes are childish.

I'm very fortunate that almost everyone in the whole school has seen an episode of dbz or pokemon but only about a dozen have ever seen such animes like evangelion, serial experiments lain, gundam wing, sorcerer hunters (i think the first parts sorcerer.).

Trust me, anyone that thinks smoke coming out of your fingers, setting yourself on fire, people getting shot and blood splattering on your face, that little girl from gundam wing getting killed and heero carring her dog away, asuka going kinda crazy (ok. really crazy), boy, have they got to be really ignorant or just plain stupid.

---end rant---

just dont rub those details into them too much or they'll think you've gone maverick in the brain and want to kill everyone (okay, so 90 days out of 100 that's true, but you get the idea)

Don't flame me or anything, but I happen to like Pokémon. Those critters are so cute. And the show does have some good lessons. Plus it's good to take a break from all the reality and drama and other stuff that isn't so pleasant. u.u; But .. uh.. animé is NOT childish for the most part.. Even shows like Pokémon has had nasty things (like one episode they did not show in America, James used a breast enlarger to go into a swim contest. O.O!)

I prefer tying them over a barrel, stuffing an apple in their mouths, and letting Manny the gimp have his way with them.

Of course, I try to solve all my problems that way, so...

Manny the Gimp would be a good birthday present for Mj

Nothing really wrong with that. It's standard kid's comedy in Japan. Even the opening theme song has a Pokeball hidden "Under her skirt" which you can see in the Original American opening.

Nothing is wrong with liking Pokemon either.

Well, yes, true. But in America people consider that an outrage. I wonder if it has to do with those super christian people.. I know one of my friends had a mom like that and wasn't allowed to talk about Pokémon.. eh, it's sorta irrelevant... but.. yeah.. I'll shut up

Hey! =) Yes, I know how incredibly frustrating it is to hear people call anime childish, but by saying all the gory/sexual/adult things about it, you just make more parents object to letting their children watch it! I don't mean young children, but I'm thirteen, and I wouldn't want my parents to ban anime from our household! Now, I am lucky because my parents are loose with morals, but other kids' parents are just waiting for an anime fan to admit how gory or sexual anime can be! Now some animes are childish, *COUGH* POKEMON *COUGH* but a lot of them are very real. I'm guessing the morons you guys all run into have only heard of Pokemon/Digimon and basically the animes that are for American children. I mean, yes, they are GOING to be childish, because they're for kids, but these should sit down to a few Ghibli films before they open their mouths! =D

Sorry in advance if this image is too big! I'm not syre if it is, but it's so CUTE!

yeah i supose you make a point but come on! people are already trying to ban anime, and even if they saw the morals and good things in it they would still want to get rid of it, and anyone too ignorant to actully investigate something before going against it deserves to be dealt with properly, i say stuff like that to people cause it's fun to watch them react and like i said they deserve it, they ask me to turn them into entertainment fior myself by saying things like they do. and i don't think i'm the only one thinking this because alot of people here at the org seem to agree with the way i handled it. and whats with the picture? you just figure to throw something in cause you think it's cute, that picture isn't cute and it's not even relevent so try not to do that ever again

Considering I didn't get much of anything this year, I'd take him without a second thought. I'd prefer trackball-chan though.
