All-Con AMV Contest - Deadline March 5th

Post by chibi_britt » Fri Feb 22, 2008 1:35 pm

Someone told us they posted info about the All-Con AMV Contest...however I just found out they didn't. The con is about 2 weeks away and we have..well...one entry for our novice contest. Any interest PLEASE HELP!

All-Con
March 7-9th
Dallas, TX

All-Con 2008 AMV Contest Rules

Whether you’re an AMV veteran or just starting out, All-Con would like to showcase your creative work!

Rules

- All videos must use scenes from anime or video games
- Videos should be no longer than 6 minutes in length.
- We understand you are making an art form, however we ask that videos be reasonable with their content. This isn’t a Hentai Music Video contest, but tasteful nudity is acceptable. Music should also be reasonable.
- Each video should have information on the creator. We want to give you credit! It is also helpful if it gives the song and anime used.
- You are allowed to enter up to three videos, however you can only enter one for each category. If you submit more than one video, please specify the category the video is competing in.
- If do not want to compete, but would like to have us show your AMV, you may submit it for ‘showcase’
- Videos should be no older than a year and a half
- All-Con staff reserves the right to disqualify any video that does not fit the rules or has material that is deemed as too offensive.

Categories

- Drama/Romance
- Action
- Comedy/Fun

Judging and Skill Levels

- Videos will be submitted into one of two skill levels:
- Novice – Creators who have not won awards previous to All-Con or are new to creating AMVs
- Experienced – Creators who has a long history of making AMVs or have won awards previous to All-Con
- Awards will be given to winners of each category in both skill levels

Submitting Your AMV

-AMVs will be due by March 5th
- If your AMV is hosted online, please send us the URL to mekanimeclub@gmail.com and include the following:
Subject: All-Con AMV Contest or All-Con AMV Showcase
Body: Name-
Category-
Song-
Anime –
- Submitted AMVs should be of high quality when sent.
- If for whatever reason you cannot host your entry, email mekanimeclub@gmail.com and we will reply with snail mail instructions.
- If you have any other questions regarding the contest, feel free to send them to the same address.

So, the Con is from March 7th to the 9th....

...but the AMVs are due by March 14th...

Otakon should totally adopt this new type of deadline.

Please post format instructions so I know what to send you. Resolution, codec, container, framerate, etc, etc.

Being the anime nerds we are we can handle just about anything sent. If it can play in VLC or WMPC with CCCP then you'll be fine.

If you're concerned, you can send it to me and I'll check and let you know if there were any problems right away.

That page has the same info I already posted ^_^

So .h264 mp4s are applicable, correct?
Can awards be mailed if we do not attend the contest?

That should be just fine.

As long as you're in the U.S. we can mail prizes.

We have them! And you're very welcome!

We have about 13 videos so far...not as many as we had last year...but at the very least we can still have a contest of some sort.

I'm still hoping to get more though. ^_^
