Unfortunetly, that's about right.

To be completely honest, I also think that compression is an important factor. Get technical specifics and do NOT let them go around it. Also be firm with beta deadlines. If people are skirting on responsibilites, then pm them and talk to them about it. I think that DJUltima is handling that VERY well in FMV2. Check out the thread for specifics. Plus, check out SOAD2 for all the dramaz that can happen in an MEP, and how to Tastefully.... Well, how to handle it anyway.

Also, from personal issues in Clow's Collection, I suggest an audition phase, as well as about 2-3 beta version checks before the final deadline. This way, you can see who is dedicated and who is not. :O

I'm so helpful I already answered this question a year and a half ago. Although if I were writing that post these days I'd add another rule about MEPs who's sole idea is 'band X is cool!' suck. Come up with more of a hook or at the very least come up with an overall style/mood for the project.

Actually, I was really wondering if we could turn this into a Faith MEP. You know, kind of one to celebrate the glory of God? Editors could choose different genres of Christian/Inspirational music, and bring it all together?

Just mah input. :O

already been done.....twice (Seven 7 Seven, Project Trinity)

This Project is Faith based. All the artist will be Christian or Christ inspired metal.
I'm working on other theme ideas to set this project apart.

okay so here is the the whole deal with this forum

Worship at full volume will be an MEP featuring all Metal artist. Artist that are either Christian or Christ inspired (hence why Thrice will be in this project). This is the overall idea of this project and that won't be changed.

But godix makes a very good point about how "Artist so and so is awesome" type MEPs can stink. Although this project is not on one artist, it is on one genre. And rarely do MEP like that make any impression on anybody.

A few people complained about my last project being called "Seven 7 Seven" and no connection to that name. So what I'm asking for is ideas on other themes to work on with this project that will give it more depth. This will also help me make a better intro and outro (credits).

Well, I may be a bit biased here but I feel that Project Trinity did a good job as far as intro and outro goes. What I think is that it should be one song, that is kind of what I thought Awake by Seventh Day Slumber would good for. I also like how you did the intro to Seven 7 Seven where each editor chose a character to portray them.
Also, I know you are working on a track list, but I think it would be better if you let the editors pick the song they would like to use. Of course you would still have limits. I myself am a big fan of Anberlin, but they did not make it into the project as far as I know. These are just suggestions of course.

I understand the idea of people picking the music they wanted to use. However there were two problems with that.

1). The project is on metal music. Alot of people seem to label any rock band as metal. To avoid this trouble I picked out the songs.

2). The horrible time I had with Seven 7 Seven was working with the random audio. Most say that in an MEP the music setup should be one of two things, single blended mix or separate individual tracks seperate fade in and out. Making my own mix helps the editing process work smoother.

I didn't like doing it really. There are some artist that would deserve to be on MEP about Christian Metal (Living Sacrafice, Zao, Becoming the Archtype,The Chariot,Etc) However I didn't own any of albums by those artist.

I agree with you on Project Trinity. I'm hoping to learn Adobe After Effects soon to make the intro and outro better.

I'm glad to here someone liked the intro Idea from Seven 7 Seven. I'm just not sure how to do something like that with this project or if I even should. so far counting just the time of all the tracks together the project would be 12 minutes long. so if the intro and credits were a 1:30 each then the whole project would be 15 minutes long. However I'm not sure it that would be too long or just right.

(Currently this thread is right above the 'Antichrist MEP' thread. Awkward... >_>)

Regarding the opening of Seven 7 Seven, I liked how the opening used characters to represent the editors as well, but I think it went a little long. It was kinda like 'ok, I wanna see the actual video now!'

I do like the idea, as I said, but maybe you could do something like that during the credits instead of in the beginning. Long intros can make people lose intrest, something short and sweet that basicly states what the MEP is about would probablly be best (Like Project Trinity, actually).

Yeah, my two cents. Look forward to seeing this hget started! I hope to be able to join, despite not being a huge fan of Metal :3
