Anime Stores?

This forum is for informing everyone else about special deals on stuff to buy like DVDs, cheap hard drives, blank CDs on sale, etc.

x2 - The one here in Houston off I-45 has a fantastic selection!

I also recommend Game Stop - right now the local stores have buy 2 used DVDs and get 2 free - just picked up a box set for $20, and some other interesting additions to the collection this weekend.

If you are in the Houston area, there's also Anime Paradise off FM 1960.

Go to... the... MALL! Yeah i know makes me quiver just thinking about it. But I always find anime there in random stores >_>. I went a japanese shop in our mall that was selling lamune and ramune in assorted flavors as well as pocky and some anime series. Needless to say I was sold >_>. I want to buy a katana from that shop badly but they are hella expensive.

Btw Ramune is very good I got one that tasted like cherry but i'm not sure cause I couldn't read the bottle >_>... It was red tho.

Kansas and Illinois aren't that far apart. What is the name of the mall, and the name of the Japanese store.

For me, i go to borders. I bought Neon Genesis Evangelion (the first movie), and as someone on the Snafu forums said, "Its a giant f***ing mind rape." I'd have to say that I agree with them. I only saw 2.5 hours on NGE in the form of a movie, but I am now mentally scarred for life.

Thats one of my favorite places to buy anime too.
I go to the one in Dallas alot
Its one of the best places I know to buy anime and electronics.
Bestbuy and Circuit city are cool too but i don't buy much anime from them that often.

BTW
If you are close to a Big Lots, you should check the DVD section sometimes.
Alot of the ones I go to have been getting alot of anime released by Bandai at 3 bucks each.
Its all random though and you probably won't find the full series without going to differen't stores.
Some of the ones I bought are
Saber Marionete
Big O
Infinite Ryvius
Planets
Yukikaze
Crest of the stars
.Hack and Hoop Days

This Saturday, I looked into places that possibly hold anime in San Antonio.
The results were as follws:
The amount at Walmart and Circuit City was negligible.
Walmart had titles like DBZ and Inuyasha mixed into the TV shows section.
Circuit City was just embarassing: They had Anime under "Special Interest" next to Wrestling and Fitness Training videos.
I checked the mall nearest my house next. The GameStop had no anime at all. I managed to find a collector's items store which had anime on VHS. I noticed Slayers and Evangelion among their titles, as well as a full rack of DBZ and a full rack of Pokemon. They also had various anime wall hangings.
The only money I ended up spending that day was on a nice Death Note shirt I found at Hot Topic.

Online, I was able to find a store called Dragon's Lair claiming to have anime titles. Upon visiting, I found a very impressive anime collection. Every title I had been planning to buy was there... all in multi-volume sets. It looked rather odd to me, as there were no single volume all-in-one sets even for FLCL (3 volumes, 2 episodes each :x ), nor were there prices on any of them. Upon asking the cashier, I found out that they were for rent only. :x :x

I left immediately.

I'm sticking with Best Buy and Amazon.com.

If you have a Bookmans (there are two that I know of here in Phoenix) near where you live they tend to have a lot of used DVDs. Just need to be careful cause they tend to take in bootlegs as well as legit DvDs. Same with Atomic Comics, lately the ones near me are packed with bootlegs mostly...

I mainly go to BestBuy and Fry's Electronics also

Anybody know any good anime stores in Victoria? The closest thing to an anime store I can find there is Curious Comics. But it's to general. They do American comics and all kinds of geeky stuff including World of Warcraft. They do anime as well but not enough.

I'm assuming u mean victoria BC, I don't, but there was a really cool place in town town Vancouver on Hastings. If you don't mind dodging drug addicts to get ur stuff, it's worth it. So if you ever take the ferry across, check it out. I can't remember exactly where i was ...it was around the Amsterdam Cafe i think ....ah, good memories of BC, lol.

Also, if you have HMV or Music World in the US, they usually have decent deals on anime. Got my eva plat. box set for like 60 bucks ...then lost it. -_-;

lol I was only visiting Victoria for a few days so that was a little late as I am back home now. I don't need help finding any anime stores out here. The HMV has a really good selection.
