AMVApp problem

Postby Tiresias79 » Thu Jan 31, 2008 9:08 pm

So, whenever I try to load up AMVApp, I have problems playing anything other than MPG and AVI files. If I try to play anything other than those 2 formats, so .mkv .mp4 or h264 files, I get a C++ Visual Basic error. I get sound for the few sconds before it locks up, but no video. When I debug it, it says it is a problem accessing libavcodec.dll . I normally use Zoom Player as my default, but still get this error using other players. If I uninstall FFDShow, I stop getting the the C++ error, but still don't get any video. In order to correct this, I have to literally uninstall anything video related, restart, and reinstall. Any ideas?

The old amvapp came with a really old version of ffdshow. It's pretty crappy by todays standards. Uninstall it and then grab this: http://cccp-project.net/

might just be a bad build of ffdshow. Try getting the most recent version (if you don't already have it)

what other codecs &/or codec packs do you have?
It's not likely causing the C++ error, but conflicting codecs can prevent you from viewing files.

Thanks alot, that worked out just fine. I've been wrestling off and on with this problem for months, and eventually give up working with AMVApp, I finally just figured I'd take the easy route and ask. Maybe now I can work with it. Thanks again.
