Choice: Adobe Premiere Pro, or elements?

Postby Yogurtron » Sun Jan 13, 2008 10:34 pm

I am rather well versed with adobe premiere 6.0, but feel it is time to upgrade. The current choices are Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and Adobe Premiere Elements 4. I've been trying to find good information on the differences, and have found little. The best I've found is http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bb684ca .

What exactly are the differences that matter between the two programs as far as AMV making goes? That website mentions trouble with 24p support in elements, which I eventually found does have something to do with 24 fps editing (I like using ermac and AD's 24 to 23.976 fps trick), but not sure exactly what it has to do with it. I also heard that you have to use lagrath lossless instead of huffyuv as well because of indexing problems.

But yeah, besides price, what are the major differences between Pro CS3 and Elements that would matter to making an amv?

Well from my experience (I have Elements 1.0) and from what my friends told me, Elements is only a part of what a full Adobe Premiere has to offer. I'd go with the Pro. I am thinking of upgrading to Pro myself. Hope that helps.

Serious question. As a proponent of 6.0, even in the face of Pro (I have 2.0), why would you want to leave?
