Where has the community gone?

This forum is for members to discuss topics that do not relate to anime music videos.

I completely fail to see how hosatchel has impacted AMV'ing, except for when your video gets put up there. I don't see it. The shift in the community from the one I enjoyed in 2004, to the onslaught of newbs or people who were only now coming back in 2005 and on is what's been killing my interest in participating on the forums. It was not hosatchel, but the hosatchel mentality of tl;dr your two sentence post.

Yeah, and where did that mentality come from? I don't blame boochsack on its own. I do blame the "drive-through" mentality that boochsack best exemplifies, and the demographic it was started to serve. Unfortunately, boochsack provided that demographic the means to demonstrate the th;de (too hard; didn't edit) version of the AMV quickly and with a large distribution. It did not take long for anyone even remotely interested in AMVs from this demographic to find us. Hence the onslaught of newbs.

I'm sorry, as soon as I wrote that I knew it was harsh. I didn't mean it to you, I just thought it was funny.

Really? You don't?

Let's see . . . going back to 2004 . . .

-Spamming

-Tubgirl
- this gem:

which occured recently.

An op in the IRC let you back in in 2005, under this assumption:
I let him stay in the chan under the condition that if he ever breaks rules again, he would be banned forever with no chance of EVER comign back

And to make it better, from a post of your own from 2004 when you were an op in the IRC, all of your bans are completely justified:

I must be drunk, I'm imaging that I just saw beo apologize to someone for being too harsh.

When I was an OP, things were very different. We weren't banning regulars and old friends. SP Panda was guilty of the same things. Would you ban him for it, if he showed up? Apparently so. Which is the problem. There's no community anymore. Just a bunch of dick mods :(

So if I become a mod, I get an extra dick?

This is like a dream come true.

SpPanda has been banned for awhile, so absolutely.

There is still a community. Many of the editors that have posted in this thread I have personally met and talk to on a regular basis. Your community, however, is gone. Deal.

So you approve of absolute favoritism?

This is what this is all about. Sorry you can't use the internet to feel special anymore. Too bad.

The general consensus outside of #AMV is that the org needs to change, but nobody is quite sure how to do it. As long as that's the case, I'd imagine the bitching is going to continue :|

Just because people are quiet about it doesn't mean it's not there. Even AD agrees that things are done very weird these days.
