Okay, i have never made a video before, and the tutorials are kindof confusing. I would like to know what programs i need, and other essentials.
Right now, i have the DVD of the anime i want to use, and a CD of the song I want to use.

No, use the new beta guide:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtechbeta/
There is a package called "AmvApp". It gives you every small codec and program you need for editing (expect: the editing software itself). Don´t just download the programs. Take your time and work with the guide. It´s worth your time!

.. take your time .. you'll find that after you get used to the software you have that the Guides will make Sence. Not that I'm pushing those Guides or anything T_T

.. play around with the Codec settings on a 15 second clip .. 15 seconds of -- Anything.
mess around with the Filters and see if you like what they can do ( or not! )

.. Keep it simple and it works ^__^ every time.

Windows Movie Maker is a good program for making AMVS. unfortunately i dont know if it is compatible with disk images. i tried and for me it didn't work. but maybe im just doing something wrong
A little piece of paper with a picture drawn
Floats on down the street till the wind is gone
The memory now is like the picture was then
When the papers crumpled up it cant be perfect again
