you could probably get some by going to control panel, add/remove programs
I think that most of them are hopelessly buried somewhere in the system folders

why do you want to uninstall/reinstall your codecs?

ok i have tried a few things and nothing has worked. When I checked wut the error was i got " faulting module 3ivx.dll," and also I have win avi converter and that program shuts down too. the weird thing is i have never had these problems before, the only thing that is really different in my pc is that i got a new vid card some months ago. Is there a program so that i can uninstall all codecs and then start from fresh?

each codec pack/program usually has and uninstall.exe it's just that they are called diferent names depending on the program.
If you don't have any projects underway I'd suggest reinstalling WMM2 as well.
Try making a few huffyuv clips like Jaddzia showed you above and test it out with that.
To cut down on the amount of space the huffyuv takes up you can always disable the audio stream in virtual dub (which you may need to reinstall along with other codecs.)
Quick question tho... you aren't running vista are you.....?

Though I'm told that it doesn't work as well as huffyuv... you could try lagarith instead...

I have a new theory as to why that is... I've been told Lagarith uses more processing power... that would explain it's sometimes shitty performance in WMM ('cause I believe you never had and problems with it Katie)
imo new theory

I never really had a problem with it mostly because ive never used it in anything other than Vegas (It works as smoothly as huffy in Vegas)... :P and I have a decent processor in my computer hehe...

I usually only bring it up as a "last resort" for people who refuse to go the huffy way... lagarith makes smaller files sure, but they are still large smaller files
