Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0 Freezing!!! D<

Postby lingchou » Tue Nov 27, 2007 4:44 pm

Okay so I'm using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Trial.
And I've been making this kick butt AMV, and I've been eager to work on it all day..
I finally get home and start up my vegas..
and I click to open my project file..
then it says its loading it into my vegas..
but then it freezes at 8%!!! It keeps freezing and "Not Responding"
Once it got past 8% but then it freezed when it was loading the 'peaks' for my song..
But the file isn't corrupt or anything, I've viewed it in Windows Player and Real player perfectlly...
Then I click 'X' again and again until the little pop-up comes up saying 'Problem blah blah..do you want to End Now or Cancel?' You know..I click end now 100 times until it finally goes away..
DAMN.
Now what? ;3;

hmm im not sure of a fix for having it only load to 8% then freezing up, however. if you can manage to load it again, and get to the point where it generates peaks for your song, you can cancel it from loading the peaks, chances are it will 'appear' to freeze for like 1-2 minutes when you cancel it. just walk away get a drink or w/e, important not to do anything (it just slows it down) eventually it will load up, but all your audio will just look blank (it isnt, you can still hear it, but there is no visualisation on the timeline.

If you reach this point id suggest backing up your file =D. now to fix the 'blanked' audio, just go to it in your project files in vegas and change the file name (put a 0 in front of the name or something) it will regenerate the peaks again (this time will take like 5 seconds per audio source).

just as a side note, when the program 'looks' like it freezes while canceling generation of the audio peaks. if you click on the screen while it does this, it will often flash white borders around the screen (or maybe my comp is just retarded).

im pretty sure the reason you are having problems loading your project is you are using either divX or XVID codec files to make your amv with. this will cause huge lagginess in vegas and is a bad codec to edit with. just a pointer for your next amv. hope that this helps you, but like i said, if it complete freezes it wont.
