NY Anime Festival

Postby Skylink » Mon Jul 16, 2007 12:40 pm

Unlike NYComic-Con, the NY Anime Festival is the first full-fledged Anime Convention to be held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. This is NYAF's first year, but judging how Comic-Con and Digital Life went on their first year, I don't expect a small turnout. From what they said in the e-mail, Speed and Trixie from Speed Racer were going to be there. Their exhibition hall list has quite the number of groups from Aardvark International to Yen Press (even Gaia Online is going to be there... but don't let that scare you.) Panels, Special Performances, etc... Things that you'd normally expect at a con. I see nothing about AMVs here though. I guess they don't know about us yet. Anyway, more information can be found here at : http://www.nyanimefestival.com[/url]

I haven't been to a con, meant to go to AnimeNext 07 but plans did not work out. I am interested and most likely will be at this one. And yes, they are having an AMV Contest:

"AMV Contest
Anime Music Videos (AMVs) are remixes of anime and music pulled together from often divergent sources into astonishing works of art filled with action, drama, comedy, romance, and always a lot of heart. And the inaugural New York Anime Festival is proud to play host to a competition between the editors, storytellers, and artists that are AMV makers -- with the winners taking home prizes from sponsors including ADV Films, Bandai America, Bandai Entertainment, Bandai Visual, Central Park Media, Del Rey Manga, Media Blasters, TOKYOPOP, and VIZ Media. Vote for your favorite during the AMV Contest:

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Sunday, Dec 9
Anime Screening Room?"

I"m going. They haven't given much info on their AMV Contest though. Since there's no "deadline" declared, is it going to be Iron Chef style AMV?
