Here's an older topic about the same subject: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=82736

It depends on your preferences, but I'd say it's pretty much a tie. If you can download the demos and try out each one, you can decide which you like better.

Premiere has better integration with After Effects so that's a plus. It can also be purchased with AE and Photoshop as a bundle so that may be another factor in choosing it.

Premiere users can use the AVS plugin as detailed here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... meth2.html which eliminates the need to make clips or convert entire episodes to a more editable video format. Vegas and other programs have to use VFAPI or other frameserving techniques.

Vegas can handle 23.976 fps footage without problems, whereas Premiere Pro CS3 may not (previous versions definitely had issues).

Vegas has a more powerful pen/masking tools, Premiere relies on After Effects/Photoshop a bit more.

X20,000

Windows XP and newer:
.. the only real difference between these two is, "how they get around different issues." From an Animators point of view, Premiere wins 3rd place everytime ( Asymetrix and Avid really have no equals in the Frame-by-Frame Editing department! ) From an Editors point of view, Vegas wins 2nd place every time ( AiST, Vegas, followed by Ulead, Magix, MGI, AVS Editor and VirtualDub -- in that order. )
.. each of these editors solves problems that the others do not address as being, "worthy problems to solve" and THAT is what makes the Vegas side of this equation soo interesting 8-)
.. when you've been around as long as I have, you do not see the price tag's as being the Solution to a problem -- all you want to do is Edit things when you want to without leaving the main interface of the project your working-on. When it comes to "the main interface" and not having to call in a separate program to solve an issue, the winners are:

Pro and Plus Lines: [[[ Multi-Line Editors ]]]
1) AiST
2) Magix
... .. well, actually, that's not right; for Magix to be in this location because any prior Magix software loaded on your machine will be utilized from the Video Editor without opening the main software programs to access it: Magix uses its other software Applications options like Premiere and Vegas handle Plug-ins .. ...
3) Asymetrix
.. ... again, this software uses options already installed on your hard drive ... ..
4) Vegas
5) Avid
6) Premiere
7) Ulead ( my,my,my; how the mighty have fallen T_T )

Simple Hack & Slash Editors: [[[ Single-Line Editors ]]]
9) AVS Editor
10) --we have a tie-- Honestech & ArcSoft & MGI & Vegas Standard Editor
11) VirtualDubMOD
12) Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 10
13) Magix Music Maker 12 Deluxe
14) Magix MP3 maker ( yes, the MP3 maker and Audio Restoration software have their own Video Editors as well )

.. there are others but most of them were never updated to the NT platform.

.. Which is actually better .. let me remind you of how these two are being advertized and you figure that out for yourself 8-) 8-) 8-)

Adobe Creation Station, AE PhotoShop & Premiere, are designed to work well with each other and to make your task even simpler we've integrated all of them so you can move between them effortlessly.

.. Sony has a name for itself and is not pushing any other products.

8-)

Asking which one of them is better for video editing really depends on your personal preferences.
