Personally it's my favorite ending of any anime series I've seen... it's not like all the other animes out there

.. doesn't matter where it belongs; it is fitting that the Anime ends with 13 episodes.
( 13 as being the norm' ... like for a sequel ... maybe 8-) )

No sequel. Read the manga.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

The manga goes on for quite a while. Myself, I've given up on the manga until more translations are available.

It's getting published in Brazil next year, or at least JBC is negociating the rights. Internet scanlations are aplenty, though.

Elfen Lied

Postby yuna2004 » Fri Nov 02, 2007 8:02 am

I personally loved it. The emotional energy was high. Had lots of mystery, drama and action. Even had boobies ^_^
It had everything an anime lover could ask for.
The ending was excellent anyone who thinks it should go further... just let it go. You know you don't want to know if they live happily ever after. I think if you want to know how it ends write a fan fic. Elfen Lied rocks hardcore.

I love this anime, especially those funny scenes with Nyuu. The violence in this anime made it famous...anyone says that in Elfen Lied it is blood spilled all over the desktop. I read some manga too, but after a while I got bored because of that time you have to wait till the next chapter appears...so I decided to finish it when the manga it is finished.
I kinda feel sorry for Mariko...she did not deserved such a cruel fate... :|
Anyway, Elfen Lied reminds me of Hellsing...creepy...not for the ones with heart problems...

I wouldn't call it "creepy"... The violence is all out there and not much is left to the imagination.

My bad...I wanted to say that Hellsing is kinda creepy...anyway, I LOVE VIOLENCE!!! (too much PC games, I guess...)
But still, I just don't understand why the anime has only 13 episodes + OVA (aka 10.5 episode)

Just like Hellsing and Berserk (not to say that it was the only reason for any of them) Elen Lied was too violent to be aired at a decent time, so it was a late-night show, which means a smaller audience, rendering smaller profits and therefore less stimuli to continue watching. Fortunately, Elfenlied and Hellsing had an acceptable anime wrapup, unlike Berserk:

The worst cliffhanger/ending in the history of anime wrote:The last episode ends with the girl being raped by an otherworldly demon king right before the hero's eyes, after said demon king's horde of satanic minions kills just about everyone they ever knew. But it gets better: The hero is also having his arm bit off by another demon, and the rapist-demon-king used to be a human, the hero's best friend and the girl's crush before she fell for the hero. The scene only isn't worse because the anime doesn't tell you that she was pregnant and the rape forced her to abort the poor fetus, which had turned into a devil-baby from the demon-king's sperm. Luckily, the manga goes a long ways beyond this.

Good days before [spoiler] tag :)

The times have change. What was once violent is below the standard nowadays. EL is a walk in the park in a senior center.
