Adobe is getting weird

Postby Vegeta9427 » Sun Oct 27, 2002 7:55 pm

It seems after I installed some DivX codecs...Premiere won't play MPEGs properly in the timeline. They are really slow and break up. I can't really unintall the codecs. I tried reinstalling Premiere but that didn't work...I NEED HELP!

Assuming by MPEGs you mean MPEG1. WTF are you doing putting MPEG1 in the timeline in the first place? HuffYUV them in Virtualdub first.

Probably not a native english speaker ^_^.

Don't you use mpegs in Premiere. Try to read the guides off this page, there is a link in my signature there.

Indiana :p

well ^_^ it sounded like a east indian there :p

Well MPEGs are bad to use, you lose color data. They are probably acting chunky/clunky do to bad encoding or bad keyframing something like that.

Either way, installing DivX shouldn't hurt your Premiere importing abilities as I believe Premiere decodes MPEG1 files by itself, or it uses the DirectShow MPEG player, but still that wouldn't be affected by a DivX codec either.

uninstall codec

Postby projecto2501 » Mon Oct 28, 2002 5:38 pm

You can unintall the codec by:

1. Going to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. In this dialog you should find listed Divix and then you can click uninstall (remove).

2. If you can find the directory (maybe C:/Program Files/Divix) where you installed Divix to, there should be a file call uninstall.reg or some such double click on this file and it will remove the codec.

By the way, do you own a 7-11, I've got a craving for a Slurpie.....

Baka projecto2501, haha. He doesn't need to remove DivX because DivX isn't affecting how fast it shows the video on the Timeline. He's using MPEG-1 files, not DivX.

Yea, but he used to be able to play mpeg1 without hitch on Premiere, until he installed DivX.

If you use WinME/XP you can try System Restore. It might actually work.

Not all MPEGs are the same, some will play shittier then others.

DivX = hacked MPEG4, "regular MPEGs" = MPEG1.

They're separate entities, unless there is something really freaky with windows or his computer the two should cause any problems.

Or it's possible they did something else... (I don't know what could possibly mess up MPEG1 playback ::cough:: LAINstation) but it is a theory. Another program, DirectX update, something really weird, new video adapter driver...
