Wacom Tablet
I just bought a Wacom Tablet. I am betting some people on here are experienced with them. I have some questions...
Mostly... Which mode do you prefer? Pen mode or mouse mode? I am sure they both have their purposes, but it just seems like Pen mode would be so hard to get used to... and yet, I bet once you get used to it, it is awesome.
Also, I bought the Graphire 4, which is 4x5 inches (20 sq. inches), and has 512 levels of pressure sensitivity. Do you feel that this size and level of pressure sensing is a good tablet for a beginner? I figured it was the best choice. I am an aspiring artist and designer, starting a bit late at nearly 28 years of age, but feel confident in my ability to learn.
So anyway... also any input, praise, horror stories about the Graphire 4?

i'm rocking a graphire 3 myself, though i havn't ended up using it in awile.
the only real use i had for pen mode, was putting something i already drew under the plastic, and tracing it.
i never really felt comfortable using a tablet for vector art - only sketching and tracing in photoshop. if i had enough time i would just scan something in and properly vector it with a mouse.
it's a budget tablet, but i do like my graphire

KioAtWork: I'm so bored. I don't have class again for another half hour.

I really miss the Sony VAIO PCV-LX900 Slimtop Pen Tablet I had with the screen integrated with the Wacom technology. Drawing was very intuitive, and erasing stuff was really neat when you flip the pen over and you see your drawings disappearing off the screen right beneath the 'eraser'. By today's standards though, that computer is pitifully slow and under-powered.

Oh yeah, man. I remember the old days with those things. My school had some Commodores with that type of light pen technology. It was awesome.Willen wrote:I really miss the Sony VAIO PCV-LX900 Slimtop Pen Tablet I had with the screen integrated with the Wacom technology.
