Sort of a pop/zoom effect

Well I have seen many videos where the person sort of makes the image pop or zoom towards you to sync with the music. Now do you usually just use the zoom option and edit the effect? I use Sony Vegas and any help would be appreciated.

Easy: Open the Pan/crop/zoom window of the clip. Zoom it. Go some frames (10, 15; whatever you need for syncing) forward. Set the zoom back to 100%.

Your effect is now keyframed and will let it "pop zoom".

Tell us wich video you mean (I´m sure that you can find it on this site or an amv with the same effect).
Screenshots are nice too.

A popped out shadow can be a lot. So I need more information
