This forum is for the general discussion of Anime.

I'm continually peeved that there is no post edit option. Here are mistakes I made in my post.

I'm sure you are of course* Clara

*aware

Animations from Japan were born from that which emerged in the United States.

In this case "Animations" would be acceptable as plural, but is correct only as singular.

that he made no bomnes* about

Just pointing out that Anime is the french word for animation so Smurfs is an anime! Alot of the older japanese cartoons for kids look very similiar to the stuff Hana Barbara was making. And if you pay attention to the market in Japan not all the anime have the stereotypical anime character.

Yes that's correct, as Frederick Schodt mentioned in his 1983 compilation of manga history, 'Manga Manga Manga! The World of Japanese Comics' the word anime is in fact derived from the French word for an animated work.

And if you pay attention to the market in Japan not all the anime have the stereotypical anime character.

How true. Simply look at One Piece. Every once in a while there are characters who are distinctly western-style in features.

Anime and Cartoons are different because they are not the same. You may be able to find some similarities, but they definitely are not the same thing, which makes them different.

Thank you for certifying that you have no proof, and it is only your vapid opinion.

I told you, the proof is Anime and Cartoons themselves. They are not the same! There is nothing that makes them the same! Because they are not the same, they are different!

I would be willing to say that the deffinition of Cartoon is not necessarily funny... it's just Excel or Daffy or Animaniacs, it's witty and a bit off base. Excel, Daffy etc. isn't funny to some but it is to those who have the ability to think outside the box. Therefore it's not necessarily funny (like those political cartoons... what's so funny about 'em?? and Cathy??) it's just off base. Funny Ho-Ho not funny ha-ha. Slayers, Snoopy, Garfield are examples of straightforward, funny ha-ha, cartoons.

I wonder what Clara said when she first found that CC is CCS... 'OH MY GOD! THEY TURNED IT INTO A CARTOON!!!'
Now THAT'S funny ho-ho

I'm sorry, but am I the only one who spotted that Clara is being obstinate just to see how long she can make this thread?

(Did like the "Democrat" comment, though...)

I didn't make this thread. I don't care if no one posts another message here again.

--------------

If you don't know enough about Anime and Cartoons to realize that they are different, then there is no way that you can truly say that they are the same. If you need it to be proven to you that they are different, what good is that going to do you? You're obviously not watching either of them, so what's it matter to you?

--------------

Anime is Anime. Cartoons are Cartoons. No reason to say that either can be the other.

I had this conversation with my parents before, when I twas a wee laddy..

"Mum, can I get that game?"
"No.."
"Why?"
"Because.."
"Because what?"
"Because.."
"Because what?"
"Because I said so, now be quiet!"

But seriously, this whole argument could be avoided if
A. Clara stated in a clear voice the exact difference without using the words "They, Just or Are."
B. Tsuji Mania was just a little nicer and a little more polite.

Just useless advice from a nosey person who seeks a higher postcount.

I'm saying that if you truly believe that Anime and Cartoons are the same, then you must not know enough about them to argue that they are different.
