I am very unhappy with their remodelling of the symbols I've come to asssociate with NGE. Is nothing sacred anymore?

It was either that or keep them the same and get people hollering that it's nothing more than more of the same old (I mean, more than they're already hollering)...

well its not really bad imo (thank god they didnt use that all red logo  )
the nerv logo is pretty much unchanged except for the white upside "fruit of knowledge" under the letters on the other side of the fig leaf

seele logo could use color, a little dull imo...

IMO the old SEELE logo is still better, but if they're going to do that they could have given the Snake a proper head, and used a different font for "SEELE" - perferably one in caps.

Has any one of the new OVAs come out yet? I thought the release date was a few months ago?

Are you referring to the new Platinum Remastered Collection that came out, or the new movies?

If you're referring to the new movies then:
Nope. Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone was released September 01 of this year ONLY in Asian theaters. The world outside of Asia has not seen any likeness of the movie and will not for probably some time.

If you want to watch it, fly over to Japan and buy a theater ticket, or download a horrid theater recording.
Otherwise, we Americans, as always, are left in the dust on this one once again.

FYI:
The KlockWorx and Khara distribution also just gave you and me the finger.

Curious:

I haven't read the entire forum so please correct me if I repeat anything. But has anyone here seen the '1.0 You Are (Not) Alone' yet?

I saw it in a packed theater. It's a month since the release and the theater in Shibuya is still selling out every screening on both screens they're showing it on.

It was awesome.

Really? Now that's a statement coming from the great dokool.

Another reason why I ask is because I'm going back to my home in Hong Kong in February, so I was curious if I could watch it.
Did they have subtitles by the way. I speak Chinese, not Japanese.
ohh...I forgot...American too! 8-)

Somehow I think it'll be awhile before we see any kind of non-Japanese release. Out of curiosity, I keep looking for cam rips and the like when I check my usual venues, and so far nothing. I doubt I'd watch the cam rip, but who knows, maybe. I've watched other things with no subs just cause, and I only speak english, but there are some things that were too awsm not to aquire right as they came out.

No subtitles, and AFAIK it's not playing outside of Japan but I could be wrong.

I saw it again tonight (a friend hadn't seen it yet so I went with him) so my memory's a lot more refreshed about it. If people have specific questions
I'll answer them and I can also discuss the two Massive changes that azulmagia posted about in that quote. I will say that they are definitely shaking things up, and that the battle with the 5th (now 6th) Angel was awe-inspiring.

Also, regarding the new logos - yes, the NERV logo does have that weird re-design, but they also use the old NERV logo w/ just the half-leaf that we're all used to at different points. The new logo confused the hell out of me, I need to see it in a static image.

The image above that Joe88 posted is real - it's on the front of all of the SELEE "Sound Only" tombstones when they talk to Gendo. On the back is a bit of the Tree of Life, but I didn't see it in enough detail.

Zephyr - there is no way in hell a cam will appear. Japanese theaters are hardcore and additionally Eva is playing in relatively smaller venues so it's a lot harder to sneak something like that in.
