Weird Windows movie maker problem. (Help please)

Postby Xylophone Laughter » Sat Aug 18, 2007 9:34 pm

Okay, this is my first ever amv.
I got my clips from a dvd (Supposedly a good thing)
I'm almost done with it I've barely had any problems until now.
I have 20 seconds left and I just need 2 more clips!
Whenever I needed to split this one clip it always starts from the beginning.
I don't know if it's me or my windows movie maker version, but I'm using windows vista.
I don't know what's wrong, please if you have any suggestions or comments please leave them.

several video programs create cache for the video clips used in a project. When you split a video, the program simply marks a position in the cache and the memory about the location where the scene was split from. If the cache gets corrupt, you will run into error like the one you're getting.

I have almost never used WMM myself, since I hate it and it sucks but i can recommend you to unhide hidden files on your comp and look around for temp files created by WMM inside the project folder or in windows temp. that might do it. You may see if the same behavior occurs for another clip and you may also try renaming the clip that is the proble. Apart from that, I can't be of much help here.

good luck.

Hey there! I use the program all the time yet I am no genious! lol

try making the video with what you have, re-adding the video to Movie Maker along with your audio and Finish from there ( you have to re-add the audio or else it doesn't turn out right). I've had problems like that to and it sucks.

Just trying to help! Good luck!

yes and export as DV_AVI ^^ or highest quality when you are add your almost complete exported amv back into the project ... this way it doesn't loose a lot of visual quality
