how to spin like top?

Postby Sub0 » Wed Oct 23, 2002 4:50 pm

Anybody ever got a clip to spin or rotate CONTINUOUSLY like a top or planet, not like Jigglypuffs tummy... I checked all the filters in Avidub, they can't rotate continuously. Is there one in premier? can premeir load powerpoint presentations?? (thinkin out loud there but the first question is what I wanna know ;-p) or maybe WMM  ??

Yes you can do this in premiere either through filters or the motion settings.

Are you talking about something like this?. That was done in Premiere using the basic 3d effect.

yeah sorta' ;-p now cept I gotta figure out how to spin it away from me... but Isa' wonderin, is Misato like in anything other than EVA cuz you shore use alot of Misato pics an not all of them even look like Misato! (sorry bout the mis-spelling but Isa' just watchin the new ghetto Mtv. BET-style boyz! ;-p)
you should check out Iketeru Futari cuz Izumi could easily hand Misato her @** in the battle of the purpley-haird babes. (She probly would too! Don't you just love watching bisexual chicks ;-p)

 grrr you know I just hate it when I ask something and then find it's some trivial thing I missed... I thought I checked all the filters (for instance I had one with a cube, sweep in, sweep out to cube... but that just sucked to put it plainly) just to find out it's one simple filter I missed, flip over... Thanks Zarxrax for not rubbing it in... it would take a dunce like myself to find that one stupid question though :? and Klinky is still outl33ting me cuz I can't find which one of these inverses the dam thing... oh well, journal entry!
BTW anybody figure out how to put a dynamic background instead of a single solid color...

Can make the top like effect, using two effects. Transform & Basic 3D.

You can setup Transform to make the circular rotation. I setup Transform with four keyframes:

Keyframe 1 - frame 12
Position:160,240
Height, Width: 75% , 75%

Keyframe 2 frame 24:
Position:320 240
Height, Width: 50% , 50%

Keyframe 3 frame 36:
Position:480 240
Height, Width: 75% , 75%

Keyframe 4 frame 48:
Position: 320,240
Height, Width:100% , %100

This makes a sort of diamond motion and is pretty rough.

Then add Basic 3D.

Every 12 frames add a keyframe for swivel, adding 90 degrees to the last:

frame 12: 90 degrees
frame 24: 180 degrees
frame 36: 270 degrees
frame 48: 360 degrees

There is a strange problem where the file actually stops playing @ 354 degrees instead of 360, you may need to add a extra frame to the end of the clip, with a keyframe set to 360 degrees as well.

After all this you should have something like this.

You can play with this and adjust settings to make it more towards what you need.

:?:  I just did a flip thing and put clipA on top, clipB on bottom (mostly clipB is just clipA with an inverse video filter or visa versa) than rendered the vid in Huffy
Than I took THAT spinning vid and had to render it AGAIN with a motion doohicky that has the zoom feild at 0 so it zooms, but it only zooms IN not OUT. well I have to render this AGAIN
Than I take THAT spinning, run into the camera clip and get ready for the final render with a speed of -100 so it'll go bkwds. ez no??

but I figured a few other things too! want it to speed up as it goes?? ez, in the first step you just put different lengths of the flip so it goes from fast to slow (remember it will be backwards... and because of this you may also want to click the little 'F' in the transition settings, this will turn the turn around...).

Oh but, yeah I could just layer the foreground I want onto the bkg... least I *think* that's what you said... I'll have to read it again to be sure... and again... and again... and again...
