There is no "best" software for making AMVs, every program has its advantages and disadvantages and depending on the editor (and sometimes the AMV being made), one program might be better or worse than another.

If you have a hard time using a program, no matter how powerful, to you, it would not be "the best". But if "cheap (no-cost) and simple" is important then Windows Movie Maker might be the best.

Anyways, this is a list of the programs that many people here use:

Adobe Premiere
Sony Vegas
Magix Movie Edit Pro
Pinnacle Studio
for Macs: iMovie and Final Cut Pro
and of course, Windows Movie Maker

... ?

.. people buy a product because they like it. If that product is a Program for Editing then they learn everything they can about that product. Once they know what that product can do, they sometimes like to display what they have learned and show it to others.
(( An AMV is Born ))

.. the Best Product is the one you know the best.

I suggest Sony Vegas. It's cheap, has a trial download, and is extremely noob-friendly, which means you won't be asking for help learning to use it. Vegas started as an audio editing program, so it obviously offers great sound features.

Windows Movie Maker is also limited to specific operating systems, so to use it you must use Windows XP. I hear WMM isn't available for Vista, but I didn't care enough to look, because Vegas is that awesome. If you've used WMM in the past and loved the simplicity, you'll love Vegas as well.

My only complaint is that Vegas didn't run correctly on my (mom's) Vista computer, but Vista sucks, anyway. Wish my mother didn't waste her money, but that's going off topic. Get Vegas.
Yo. Check out my website.

That's Vegas Movie Studio+DVD. Full-powar Vegas costs somewhere close to Premiere, iirc.

Still, for the price, Vegas Movie Studio works pretty darn well, especially if you're just starting out.

Nope. You can get Sony Vegas 6.0 without the box or manual for only $99.

To OP: The latest version of Vegas is 7.0, but it's hardly worth the extra money you'll spend because the differences are minor and mostly unimportant to AMV editing. And as you'll find plenty of help and a pretty nifty Vegas tutorial around the forums (not to mention the comprehensive Help file that comes with Vegas), I'd say it's a pretty good deal, even without the manual

Lulz have three things to do with this thread:

1)They're a corruption of LOL
2)They're the best AMV-making software
3)I did it for them
