there's no "best" editting program, considering good AMVs have been made with any of them. this is a guide to making AMVs, and farther down the thread is a list of editting programs.

Video Editors and others may help but, the list is quite out-of-date!

.. as dull as it may seem, the best way to begin making AMV's is to Hand-Draw/Mouse-Draw about forty(40) images -- and then move them around in any given editor; what you will learn is:
1) how to arrange images/videos.
2) how to blend and mix overlay's.
3) what transitions work best and which ones to avoid using all together!
and
4) what Codec's give you the best/worse encodes
4a) what setting to use.
4b) how frame-rates can mess with your Videos.
and, most importantly
4c) when to add audio and which Codec's work for your Audio.

.. seem to be almost too simple? .. its not -- its' not as simple as it looks!

.. regardless of what they have edited they did understand the two most important parts of making the AMV at that time:
A) how to encode the Video with the current and most up-to-date Codec's available.
B) how to encode the Audio with the current and most up-to-date formats.

.. if your not careful with your editing, it may turn-out like THIS:
[vidid=21310]
.. hehe, we all make mistakes .. :( .. you'l need VLCplayer to watch it.
