Right, which is why I say 'sync' and why I was defending both spellings. I consider abbreviations in general to be informal and thus flexible. The point is to be short while still making sense, and I don't know many people that get confused by 'synch'.

Do we care? Personally i prefer synch, but i could care less what others call it.

In the communications work I've done, I've mostly seen sync when writing synchronization in shorthand in regards to timing of data/voice trunks.
