Vdub does not install

Postby anurok » Thu Jul 05, 2007 7:33 pm

So I dled AMVAPP as well as a direct file of Vdub and it will not run/install on my pc for whatever reason...

The error I get is:

An error has ocured and the program must close. Please inform Microsoft about this problem...

Send or Don't Send options etc etc...

bottom line, I can't get Vdub to work on my PC for whatever reason and I really want to make my Huffyuv.avi file into an Avisynth to compress it with Zarx264gui...

any help on this one guys?

then just use the Zarx264gui

the only thing you could use vdub for is to preview the avs script to make sure of your changes

You don't need VirtualDub for that. Just make the AVS script in Notepad (or whatever plain text editor you prefer).

I see....

So how am I able to use my file with Zarx to compress it? I go to input file and my file is not supported...

I was under the impression that you needed Vdub to make an AVIsnth file to compress with zarx...

Or is the AVIsnth part of something else? I read the AMVApp FAQ and guide and it did not seem to help much with this...

File Type: AVI
Compression: Huffyuv
Audo Compression: PCM

open notepad, create the avs script save notepad, rename the file extension from .txt to .avs and you have an avisynth script

It gets easier with practice, believe me.

Think of the AVISynth script as just a set of instructions. When you try to open the .AVS file in a program that handles video (like, say, VirtualDub or Windows Media Player), AVISynth kicks in and follows those instructions to deliver the video.

^^ hrm...when I try to open an AVS on WMPC it sits there and just says its trying to open...

Also, when I double click the avs file to open it regularly it asks me what to do to open it with the option of going online or selecting a program...

I selected WMPC since Vdub does not work...but I can't get the avs to play =/

really needs to be an edit button here...

When I try to open it with WMP it tells me I don't have enough memory (which is crap, my PC has enough memory for India) and will not open the avs...

any ideas?

I'm assuming you did install AVISynth correctly.
