My room situation is all screwy but I'll be there with three AMVs entered to boot. Though I've got a nasty feeling one might be disqualified.

AX has got to learn to stop underestimating demand for some of its events.

This morign they posted that at noon today you could get skin tickets via their premiere ticket system as of 12:00

At precisely 12:01 the system got overloaded and crashed, now who knows what will happen?

This is a complete repeat of teh $100 Xbox 360 thing from Amazon last christmas.

I'll be at the convention, but stressing over my masquerade entry (if I made it into the Masquerade contest that is). Atleast the AMV contest will be over and done with Friday night. Then I can focus on Masquerade...I should finish the costumes up...

I entered two videos, which I'm hoping will do well.

I'm coming/going. Didn't plan on it, so didn't get an AMV submitted in time. This was strictly last minute. Cosplay may include Nataku from Saiyuki, not sure if I'll do any others. Looking forward to meeting you all!

The good thing at least is the amv contest is not ticketed this year.

I'll be cosplaying as Raz this year from Psychonauts, as well as a returning cosplay from last year, Shuji from Saikano. I also have my girl going as Lili Zanotto with Raz and Chise with Shuji. :D

I entered an AMV into the contest...but for whatever reason, I haven't received a confirmation... :?

As far as getting in line for seating in the AMV contest.. in the last few years they had it setup so that there were big screens in multiple locations, so you couldn't really have that bad of a seat. I don't know if they're doing it very differently this year though, with a different room and all.

I went to anime expo 2007. I've gone every year since 2003. This was a good convention, yet I feel that it's biggest problem was the center itself. I would have much rather had it in Anaheim then long beach. Although for me it worked out financially that way. Some of the problems I had with the place was
1. They did not allow for all the free throwing. I know ADV fought for us, but the convention center won.
2. Anaheim is bigger.
3. In Anaheim they allow you to walk in and out of the front door, here you went through the front and then had to go out the back and walk half way around the center just to get to your hotels. That was annoying epically in this heat.
4. Some booths like Tokyo Pop were not there, probably (now this is only speculation) because it was in long beach.
5. On a side not other than location the free stuff seems to be less and less each convention, and that's held the fun of going is getting all the free junk.

Other than that though it was a good convention for the most part. I was just a little upset it was moved from its usual location. I also talked to the information booth and they said it might be in the LA convention center next year. I've never been there, but I hear it is bigger than Anaheim at least. Maybe that will be the best, still I really do like the Anaheim convention center.

I liked it better
1. because the beach made it a lot cooler than Anahiem
2. The no signs ban was awesome - because you kids w. signs look like pan handlers.../
3. The amount of artists in the alley and art for sale put me in bliss
4. Some kid killing it in guitar heros
5. blah blah
6. cool costumes
7. lots of cool shit to buy
8. blah blah blah
9. Pirates
10. no man faye sighting = D

-missed AMV's for a good reason..
Was nice for things to get changed up, we could all use it

The convention center staff annoyed me to no end. They would continuously reroute you around the entire outskirts of the block just to get somewhere that was 20 feet away. Somehow they managed to always find the least convenient way to funnel you from one place to another. That, plus the bag checks, arena bans/confiscations, and general rudeness on their part just started getting ridiculous. The Long Beach convention center attitude wasn't "let's all have fun" it was "everybody get in, finish, and get out."

Other than that I had no real problems. It was cooler than it would've been with the sea breeze, at least.
