Compression problems with Virtualdub and Nandub

Postby Chaos Angel » Mon Oct 14, 2002 2:15 pm

I've been trying my hadn at making AVIs with Nandub and Virtualdub. I've found out how to IVTC, I've gotten resizing. The primary trouble I am having is that when I try to use DivX 5 or XviD, it says that it has compression errors (specifically, XviD says "Unknown compression error (-100)" and DivX 5 can't find a log file, which I can't seem to find either.).

I've gotten DivX Fast Motion to work, but when I resize it, it just looks horrid. It looks fine enough when kept at 720 x 480, but resizing down to 360 x 240 makes it look awful. Slightly jagged, it has a little wave effect running through it, etc.

I've tried re-installing XviD and DivX 5 with no luck. The Guides don't offer any solutions (I can't even get the IVTC step to work since VFAPI-Conv won't open up TMPEGEnc projects).

It's tempting me to just stick with MPEGs, even though they are huge compared to what I've seen XviD do.

Any thoughts?
