FFX is pretty hard to rip. Use this program instead. It's a simple application to use that does all the work for you. Heopfully your version of FFX will be compatible with this program.

I manged to grab and split FFX's ISO but the extractor couldn't find any MPG files on any of the pieces T-T how the heck do I extract FFX's movies?

(ps this is my first atempt at using game footage)
well to extract the ffx movies you need to locate the LBA (there was a tool which extracts everything in the LBA for example hidden files etc but i forgot what it was called sorry) well once you extract the movies and try to demux them with PSS_demux you will notice that the video wont demux. The reason why it wont demux is because its not your typical M2V file. Its a MPEG file which is compressed using the Huffman Algorithm, that is the reason why it cannot be demuxed. Im guessing its the same as Kingdom Hearts as they were both released in the same year.

There is a chance if you insert the sectors (first and end sector) of the movie clips of Kingdom hearts and then insert them in FFX2MOV, it is possible it will be able to rip the footage off that game.

hexedit? just copy and paste the hex. then save file. i use hexworkshop, so it can insert file and combine them. it really depends on your hexeditor.

I tried following the guides in this thread, but haven't had any luck with any of them. Would anyone know how to get the movie files from Shadow Hearts From the New World? The files on the disc are all .pkb, .cpx, .tbl or .irx and there's about 40 fmv's playable in the game.

Here's a screenshot of the 2 folders

well before you give up, try this simple to use application first. (You should be able to unzip it with winrar or winzip.)

http://nickle.shimbe.net/Archives/psscut010.lzh

Drag the "LSD.PKB" onto your computer and then drag the file into the application. Maybe you'll get lucky and the application will rip the mpeg2 streams for you.
But if doesn't work out, then you'll have to learn the basics of how to use a hex editor.

Once you can do that, here's what you have to do.

Take that "OPENING.PKB" file and drag it into the hex editor. Make note of the header in the "OPENING.PKB" file.

Use that header to locate and extract the fmv's in the "LSD.PKB" file using the hex editor. I've extracted the fmv's from this game using this method. I haven't tried the first one though.

Hrm I've tried this for Shadow Hearts FTNW and all I'm getting are Unrecognized MPEG Header...I don't know how the rest of it works but I'm not getting any MPEGs out of this. I wouldn't mind learning what you did to get those FMVs, I really want them...

I ended up getting this: http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/2130 ... psszq8.jpg

And the hex editor confused the heck out of me.. is there a guide on how to use/extract/recommendations for any specific one?

since typing up a long detailed tutorial on how to do this would prove to be unhealthy for my fingers at the moment, I'm going to take the lazy way out and simply link to a couple of old topics.

Read this to learn how to use the basics of a hex editor:

Then read this thread (or rather the posts I made in this thread) to learn more on how to extract fmv's from SH3. Don't bother looking for the pics I posted in that thread. None of the links work.

If you honestly end up needing a much more thorough explanation, then I'll provide one for you when I have some time.
