Mac ripper needed

Postby illuminon » Thu May 17, 2007 4:28 pm

hey all,
so I've been kinda out of the AMV game for a year or so now but I've been sitting on a lot of ideas and finally got the motivation to sit down and start editing agin. Trouble is I'm sitting on whats (probably) a lot of outdated software, plus I'm working on a Mac so a lot of the forum stuff I pick up doesn't really apply to me anyway. I've managed to find an upgrade for most things but I'm still in search of a good ripping program. If anybody knows of a good one for use on the good ol' apple I'd be very thankful.

Everything I've read discussed on the forums amounted to; install windows.

Handbrake is only good for making copies of your DVDs. It does MPEG-4 or H.264, and those are not good for editing.
But, Mac the Ripper is the program you want for coping your DVDs.
Look up "MPEGStream Clip" and you will use that to convert your ripped footage into something you can edit. To get the most out of it, I think you need Quicktime Pro.

Check out the guides on this site for a good intro to editing AMVs on a Mac.

Yay, OS fanboys.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

Totally - Paying 2 to 3 times as much for the same hardware is where it's at.
