My favourites would be Colours & Carousels and Concert Journey

The rest was also not bad, but these I liked the most^^.

Animated wrote:I agree too that Colours and Carousels was the winner of this group. Also, it would be a tough choice for me if i was a judge, but the four ones i would choose to go on to the next round, are: drewaconclusion's Star Crossed Lovers, The Pursuit, Concert Journey and ofc Colours and Carousels - not that the other 3 amvs were not worthy (i'll keep an eye on Evil Enviromentalist). Still, i'm waiting for the judges' thoughts!

same for the top 4.

Darn, apparently no one liked my video.

Oh well, I tried my best and gave it my all, so at least I was happy with it. :)

Now what I would like to know is why everyone didn't like it?
Please be honest.
So I can try and improve for next time.

For your first AMV, it was actually pretty good. I'd say that the main issue with your vid is the problem that absolutely everybody has in their first vid. You just gotta add in more sync and flow. Reading the sync sections in this guide will definitely help you improve http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... =2&t=92942

Aww... don't feel blue if people don't comment here! Doesn't mean they don't like it... and good attitude - ultimately you're the boss, and it's about having fun. :awesome:

Anyway, I agree with what Kireblue said.

From my view -
Good points
Nice choice of anime.
Choosing scenes that fit the lyrics
You used the whole song... how did you do that? :o I found it so repetitive.

Parts that could be improved
Wasn't sure if you were going for the characters speaking the words or not... sometimes they were out of time, sometimes not.
Maybe it's because you used the whole song, but I thought the AMV just said the same thing over and over again - the scenes showed didn't seem to change in intensity, or any revelation occur with the characters - that was my impression.

Anyway, you can dissect a video all you want but in the end it doesn't guarantee someone will like the vid... and I did like your video. :)

Here's my judge's opinion. (I'm not a judge.) I liked the videos a heck of a lot more than I thought I would, so congrats to all. :D
For whatever reason I felt like giving (not very specific/helpful) feedback. Who doesn't love feedback?

----

KuroEnmei - Transitions were cool! Great everything! Okay, I guess I'm a bad critic. Lol at intro/outros though. (Seriously?)

LopezAMV - Impressed at scene selection or sembalance of a story (or at least I made one up, idklol) and overall just clean and good. No complaints.

drewaconclusion - Interestingly (aka it worked, kinda) slow paced, but I felt when the song picked up you didn't pick up with it (at least right away) so.. Pacing? Flow? What's this called? Noticible audio cuts also took me out of it each time. Not bad, not without it's problems.

MasterZero8 - Lip flap: I've been trained to hate that I guess. Getting past, I thought it was cute (I smiled watching), but severly needed to pick up at the chorus. Actually, overall seriously lacking in the sync department, but I can appreciate the storytelling effort. Ending wtf though. "AND THEN THEY KISSED"

EvilEnvironment - Couple of issues but I enjoyed both the sync and the flow in this one for the most part. (the crying sync was cheesy, inconsistent black flash sync = nothankyou) Interesting end, I feel like you led me on with that built tension lol.

dazza1008 - Lipflap eww. Frameblend eww. Needed to pick up sync at the chorus (why so common?) wasn't BAD this one just didn't impress me. Too slow probably.

TwilightChrono - I enjoyed this, even through the couple of cheesy effect moments. (also against black flashes, flasing one thing quickly in succession) but I don't... whats this concert doing in the middle of things. I didn't get it lol.

----

If I had to pick four, I'd say KuroEnmei, LopezAMV, and TwilightChrono are a lock... then drewaconclusion/EvilEnvironment for the last spot. It'll be interesting to see what the judges value.

Feedback is always welcome :)
And lol it did have a plot, I thought it was pretty straightforward but I take it I was wrong
I posted everything (plot-wise) in the announcement thread, which you can find here.

I kind of hate how everyone has the same song, because all I hear is "shout to all my balls, boys. green brownies!"

Some comments:
Kairih's video:
Loving the colorings you did  I really liked :57-1:03. I'm a fan of simple fade to black sync. I also liked how it looked like Homura's heart was beating. I don't really mind that you used the most overused sources in the past 4 years either. The coloring made it less painful to see the same clips used in a lot of videos, so it felt more refreshing if anything. xD

Melee's video:
Love the internal sync. Some of the clips on the faster parts of the song were kind of static, but I didn't really expect a masterpiece knowing your compatibility with this song. xD Still a good watch.

Centurione's video:
Love how you gave the video color in the end, it felt really refreshing for some reason. Those jumpy frame things you did at :17-:19 kind of threw me off though. I also felt you could have held back a little bit with all of those tv staticy transitions a little bit. You should try and moderate how you use it. I like your scene selection though, very tasteful. You know when to throw in high motion clips on fast parts, and more slow and flow-ey clips between the crazy parts of the song.

A fistful of dubstep:
Really needs work on scene selection. A lot of the clips on the fast part of the song are really static (like at 0:36, where these random people are just standing and doing nothing).

fight for love:
Source looks pretty cool. I felt those twitchy effects were really unnecessary though. I feel you just used them because it's edited to dubstep. Needs more work on sync too. It's not hitting the beats like I wished it did.

Lost Samurai:
This is another case of a high paced part of the song paired with completely static clips.

I still feel my predictions are correct. I am 90% sure all of my picks (except for LukeG because I assume he dropped? None of the last 3 felt like his. I may be wrong.) will make it to the 2nd round. But good luck to everyone nonetheless!
