East Coast vs. West Coast.....who would win?

Postby hackerzc » Wed Jan 29, 2003 2:51 pm

Ok, so the question is: WHO WOULD WIN THE WAR OF THE CONS? West Coast or East Coast? Give me your thought on this subject.

East Coast

East Coast would win. (I'm sadly West Coast)

They have more conventions, even one the size of AX.

Because the conventions are more often the feeling at the convention is far more friendly. The faces more familuar.

Despite the fact that there are fewer anime fans on the east coast as opposed to the west coast, east would win. East coast has FAR more conventions than west coast, AX is the biggest and best for industry and merchendise but fanwise I would say the east coast is better.

Well Georgia is EST and counts as Eastern. As for Central and Mountain Time zones, both get blown away by the two coasts. So it's a battle between them.

Fewer anime fans on the East coast? How so? I think there are more on the East otherwise the west would have more cons.

Everyone I know (with the exception of a few older adult reletives) likes anime. Not everyone knows it's anime (some call it cartoons, but they still like it).

Those on the west coast tend to go to AX. But anime merchendise is genearlly harder to find on the east coast, not to mention that the majority of the asain population of the US is centralized in California, on one street I come across no less than six japanese restaurants run by japanese people and that's only two blocks. I can reach six anime stores within a twenty mile radius of me easily and anime selections are far better than they are on the east coast. Hell, a lot of people I run into while living on the east coast don't even know what anime is -_-

Count my vote for east coast as well. While the raw numbers of fans may be a bit smaller on the east coast, the fandom is WAY more organized here.
