I should probably get around to buying the plane ticket this weekend (hopefully, they won't jump too far away from the ~$200 from PHL they seem to be priced at this point...) and finalising hotel plans (so far as yet, I dunno...I plead and beg and nothing is to be had...I feel rejected :( )

Right now, I don't know where I stand for AWA...yet... :-/

Bah... my flight doesn't reach the airport until 7:10PM, that's assuming it's not delayed. This is going to be close, if I'm going to make it to this dinner. How far would the Cheesecake Factory be from the airport and what will it cost me in taxi fares if I make a beeline for it as soon as I can rather than stopping over at the hotel first?

Mark, you should be alright with going to the hotel first. The restaurant is very close to both hotels, and the ride from the airport is defenitely less than an hour, I don't remember the exact time though. (I would suggest the shuttle over a cab, when I took a cab two years ago it cost me 50 bucks). We're not leaving for the restaurant until 8:45, that gives you an hour and a half or so, you should be fine.

Well since I claimed a spot earlier I suppose I should mention that unless the magic money fairy comes and drops a few hundred dollars in my lap neither me or mrs_godix will be there.

So, is this a private party or can non-editors come to this shindig?

I should be in ATL for the AWA the entire weekend...Plus, since I only live in Auburn it should make it easier for me....

However, I am curious about the answer to the question above regarding non-editors...

The past years we've tried to make it editors only, but I think as long as you're a member of the .org, it's fine.

I believe the rule was only made because of the (a) exclusive nature of the dinner and (b) more guests = less space.

In the past it was always "try not to bring guests that arent' editors, but if it's your S.O limit it to one."
Or something like that.

But meh, It's not like anyone's going to kick you out if you don't follow tradition.

Hmm... even at 8:45, I might end up being late

Anyone have a clue how long it would take to get out of customs?

Depends on where you're coming from.

I give it an hour, though usually it only takes like 30 minutes.

Last year when Ryno came in through customs, they just waved him through.
