Hehehehe. Naw, there's no rule about how much you can win. :-) Why would we want to drive off the people who make the best AMVs?

The only restrictions we have about winning too much is the No Trolling rule.

Mad? I guess that's why I'm not any good yet :). I think I need to get a mallet and just hit myself over the head a few times. You think that'll help me attain your skill/madness? :)

I guess I'll talk to Tim some time about Otakon since it's in August and I *may* have saved up vacation again by then (using up vacation for ACen). At least there's always AWA.

Will be at AWA as well.... BTW, you don't need a mallet, jut manipulate about 1000+ frames in a AMV and you too will go mad....

Well you're sort of right, Vlad's is MAD...MAD I SAY!!!!! :-P

BTW you guys suck. I am debating going to Otakon since Tim tells me a ton of you are gonna be out there.

Hmmm.. I ton you say...

Well..ok, 1 ton=2000 pounds and the avarage weight of a AMV creator is, say 160 pounds... so 2000/160 = 12.5

Thus your right, there whould be about 12.5 of us there :P

And yes, to qualify being an AMV creator you've got to be mad :P

Well, if Maddness is the key to creating good AMV's then I think I might just have it down (the madness part I mean). I think I actually might have made something good. The exact phrase that EVERYONE of my friends who watches it is....."It's Just Wrong". Now I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not, but it made me laugh like hell to hear it, but not in one of those sinister laugh kinda ways so I don't know.

Yeah I'm going

Postby anikiki » Wed Apr 23, 2003 12:37 pm

Yeah, I'm going. I should, seeing that Otakon is like right in my backyard. Hopefully, I'm going to be in costume, and I am most likely going to be unemployed by then. I have a job to get me ready for next semester and to have some cash around. Hopefully, I will also make an AMV, but I would need a lot of time, an idea, and the right software.

::prays to go to Otakon::

This would be my first one, yay.

I'm starting to get excited that Otakon stuff is taking off...I've got a handful of friends on staff and it's always fun and energizing to see deadlines approach, prescreenings hit, hotel reservations get made (mine are!) and then handle the annual rush to get stuff done for the club zine and attempt to secure press access, etc.

Plus Otakon X is going to be my tenth con...I started doing AMVs in time to start going to Otakon, and I've got a good feeling that this year things will be going my way. Of course, I have to survive the waiting first.

I've got my reservations o' course but I am still not working on my video yet...and I doubt that I will even submit for the year. I had a great FY idea that I just can't get done in the quality I want (need to stop capture and rip for A.E. software) so I went to an Excel Saga idea that...lacked...

well, it may be best this way.

You always 'have' to be there when your video plays. Last year my days revolved around the video rooms, maybe if I don't submit I will feel more free. Then I'll have a whole freaking year to work on my FY video.....it's a comedy FY video...'tis not an easy thing to accomplish...

I haven't even seen it and just the concept strikes me as "Oh, that is just sooo wrong." And I've had that damn song stuck in my head for the last couple days now.

I'll definitley be at Otakon- I don't know yet what my status with a competing video will be. I'll definitely be sending something in- but what exactly hasn't been determined yet, as I decided I couldn't make the video I wanted to well and in time for the deadline. One option I'm pretty certain would make it to finals- the other I think would, but I'm far less confident of. But, irrelevant, it sounds like I'll have no shortage of awesome AMVs to watch at the con, and lots of editors to hang out with. :D

A friend and I have considered it, but are hotels really already selling out? :? did I misread a post back there?

The hugeness of the con also sort of intimidates me, but there would be lots of stuff to see... hmm. (I'm maybe a six-hour Greyhound ride away; it's one of the closer cons for me. But my friend is having fits because he considers this "last-minute". Several months in advance. )

Geh. I need to get my reservations as well. I meant to do that over the weekend. Thankfully, unless I"m mistaken, there are a number of hotels in the area, so one of them should have room.

Sarah, if you're still in Pitt. my friend I was staying with at Tekkoshocon is planning on going to Otakon as well- you might be able to catch a ride with him and save some time, money, and boredom...

:\ eh. I don't know the area, and I don't drive, so. Is bad.

And I wouldn't wish my presence on anyone, let alone a friend. Awful thing to say.

So I guess the con is safe after all. ;)

Thanks for the info.

Just a reminder to some ppl who might be somewhere near jersey. I'm contimplating appropriating a mini-van of some sort to drive down to Otakon. Its about 6 hours for me since i live an hour NE of NYC. I'd probally be planning on swinging through LI to pick on jbone and then head down to DC from there. Thought it would be fun to drive down with some creators and whatnot. If your excuse is that you don't want to dirve/bus ride it there, IM me or email or something as it wouln't make sense for two ppl to get a minivan, but if more ppl are in then we can all chip in for gas and parking for the minivan for the few days. I was planning on driving down on thursday comming back sunday.

On another note.....I had a lot of fun last year there and as many ppl know I had been responsible for arranging many a gathering at Otakon as Misty and a few others can vouch for. Probally try to swing the same thing this year to get as many creators togeather as possible.

Anyone thinking of cosplaying this year at all? I'm trying to get a naruto group togeather for the con. I'm making shurikens now as I type...well not AS I type, but between page loads. I'm going as Sasuke and I think I might have a sakura lined up. Really looking for a naruto though and whateverelse ppl want to come as. Again, contact me if your interested.
